Okay so I'm a junior and I want to get the Biology test out of my way. Firstly you should know that I'm in the Gaza Strip, under a siege. Therefore education at my school is not entirely great. My school teaches merely enough to get a 500 on any SAT Subject Test.

The first time I took the Bio test in the June of 2012, I got a 510

I then bought PR and Barrons and self studied and boosted my score up to 620 on the SAT Bio in November. Although I was disappointed with my score. I answered around 69 questions which is roughly 740-50 but yet I managed to score in the low 600s.

I believe I have one more attempt (I'm better at Bio M). I NEED tips on ANYTHING I should do to self study to get into the 700+. I KNOW I can do it. If I managed to boost my score from a 510 to a 620, then I'm sure I can have another go and get those few extra questions to get me into the 700s.

I already have Barrons and PR, I'm sure that they're enough prep, but at the same time it feels like I'm missing something. I just can't tell what it is?

Would it be wise of me to buy an AP Bio book, Having never taken AP Bio?

Bump bump bump bump to the top

Buy an AP Bio prep book from Barron’s and read through it.

Are you sure? Many people tell me that the content in the AP bio book differs from the content in a regular Bio Sat Test.

I agree, buy an AP prep book. Barron’s AP Biology together with Barron’s SAT2 Biology prepared me well for the test.
Don’t blame it on your school, your score is entirely dependent on whether you have really memorized and understood every detail in the prep book. The bio subject test has a cruel curve, but as long as you know the AP material, it will be a breeze.
One last tip, if you feel really confident after reading through the prep books, try writing an outline for all chapters by memory. Writing this will help you familiarize with the framework of general biological topics. This worked for me.

The AP content goes further in depth, or at least it used to. Currently, the AP exam is more passage based, but the Barron’s AP Bio prep book has remained the same. Buy the newest prep book, read through it, and you’ll be set. AP Bio prep will overprep you for the SAT. I only used Barron’s SAT II Bio and got a 770; if I’d used the Barron’s AP Bio book, I would’ve probably scored higher.
