Quad 1 House15 Floor2 Room1522

so what is the house? how do you know i’m second floor haha

each quad consists of a few “houses” basically different buildings all connected by the basement tunnels so each house has its own entrance.

Although it’s often considered one of the crappier dorms at RU (probably just because it’s on Livingston), I lived in Quad 1 last year and absolutely loved it. The room was much bigger than I expected and had pretty much everything I needed. There’s only 5 rooms per floor, which means that you’ll be able to get to know your floormates really well and more likely than not become super good friends. Having all your best friends right next door is pretty awesome.
There’s no AC but that’s pretty much a non-issue. Only the first few weeks of school will be warm, after fall/winter come along you won’t care. In my room it was consistently a very comfortable 65-70 degrees during the colder months, which was great! And whatever happens, don’t buy into the hate surrounding Livingston - it’s an awesome place to live. Everything is nearby and within walking distance. Also you’ve got the new dining hall opening up this semester, which is roughly a 5 minute walk away (further away than the old dining hall but much better than any other campus). Go in with an open mind and you will enjoy your experience a lot.

I also lived in quad 1 and it *ing sucked. They put me down in the basement, I never met anyone besides my neighbors because my hallway was totally isolated via double doors on both sides. There were only 3 other rooms in this hallway, very small pool. Plus side was the room was big but it didn’t matter because I rarely had people in my dorm who weren’t my roommate or gf. Also I was by the window which was not very well insulated, during the winter it was always 60 or a little below… For academics though it was great, roomy right next to the bathroom, dining hall was like 15 feet away and it wasn’t noisy. Totally devoid of distractions >.<, my roommate on the other hand became very depressed. *ty ****ty dorm

I didn’t live in the quads, but I hear mixed reviews about it. Everyone I know from the quads got along well with the rest of their house. It really depends on the circumstances.

If you end up not enjoying it, you can always request a room swap. I don’t think there’s really a deadline, some people were able to change rooms even during the spring semester.
