Help with Pre-Haas (Backup Econ Major) Schedule

Hi, I’m an upcoming freshman aiming for pre-haas and econ as a back up.
This is my planned schedule for the next 2 years below. Can anyone take a look at it and give me some feedbacks? Thanks lots.

Freshman Fall :

  • Math 16 A
  • R&C A
  • Breadth
  • Breadth

Freshman Spring :

  • Math 16 B
  • R&C B
  • UGBA 10
  • Unit Filler?

Sophomore Fall :

  • Econ 1
  • Breadth
  • Breadth
  • Breadth

Sophomore Spring :

  • Econ 100B
  • Stats 21
  • Breadth
  • Breadth

I’m trying to get rid of most of the breadth classes so I don’t struggle during my junior and senior year. I already know some of the Breadth classes that I’m going to take, but if you know some great easy breadth classes please let me know! I also heard that most of the R and C classes are difficult, so if you have any suggestions that would be great too. Thanks for reading.

You’re missing the American Cultures class in your schedule.

If you want to have a goal of taking as few requirements classes as possible, what you can do is to find combo classes that kills two birds with one stone. For example, a R&C A class that combines with a breadth and a R&C B class that combines with a breadth. You can also combine the AC class with a breadth too. Finally, there’s a decent possibility that one of your Econ classes will also fulfill the Social Sciences breadth.

The business major does not allow courses (like Classics R44) to count for both R&C and 7-course breadth. Note also that business courses and micro/macro economics courses (1, 100A, 100B, 101A, 101B) are also not allowed for 7-course breadth in the business major.

L&S (where the economics major is) does allow doubling up R&C and 7-course breadth (like with Classics R44) and does allow your major courses to count for breadth.

American cultures can be fulfilled by a course that fulfills other requirements (breadth or major).

@ucbalumnus so when I looked at the Haas prerequisites, it said that “I must satisfy R&C requirement by completing courses comparable to both Berkeley’s English R1A and English R1B”. Does this mean the class has to have the R1A or the R1B tag? for example, German R&C is also one of the courses that satisfies part A of the R&C requirement, but since it’s R5A not R1A, does that mean if I took this course instead it won’t satisfy the Haas prereq’s? I would rather take German R&C over English R1A if possible.
