start by saying that I am currently a senior in high school. I applied to about 7 schools in November all ranging in "safe" schools that are out of state. I didn't apply to any out of state schools because I have no desire to stay in state. My entire high school career has been pretty tumultuous, I don't have what's considered "perfect" grades but I do try my best. My current overall gpa is a 2.0 and I have only take one ACT test that was a score of 17.

I know pretty bad, huh?

Well graduation is nearing closer (next month-June) and I still have no clue where I am going to college. I've gotten accepted to 2 colleges in NYC (which is particularly where I want to go) but the deposits are a little too expensive for me. So I've been looking into applying to more colleges in the NYC area with affordable tuition's and I stumbled across Brooklyn College.

I would really want to attend this college but I don't quite meet the requirements, sadly. I know it's pretty late but my plan was to take the ACT again in June in hopes to get maybe a 20 or 21 and apply to BC but my question is, is it too late to do all of this? Is it even possible or should I just give up hope?

I would love to hear any suggestions.

I’ll start off by saying that I’m rather confused by this post. You stated, “I didn’t apply to any out of state schools because I have no desire to stay in state.” Did you mean that you want to leave or stay?

Also, with an ACT score of 17, I would by no means consider any schools “safeties.” (This is a rather dismal score, as I know of many community colleges that require higher)

What I would focus on is prepping for the ACT to ensure a better score. There are several good prep books that will help. You should realistically aim for about a 21.

I doubt Brooklyn will accept a 17.

(I’m sorry if I sound mean here, not my intention, just trying to get my point across)

Brooklyn College.does not even accept ACT scores (according to their 2011-2012 Common Data Set, found here:
The page you requested was not found | The City College of New York;
).
The average GPA there was 3.01 - much higher than yours. They also do not look at extracurricular activities and the likes at all. So you have (unless a miracle occurs) no chance of being accepted. I do not want to discourage you, but you should give up hope.

You stated that you don’t mean to discourage me that’s EXACTLY what you did. How condescending is that?
Thanks for nothing.

So you came here for merely optimistic opinions which support your claim? You specifically asked: “Is it even possible or should I just give up hope?”

How about this:
Yeah, you’ll definitely get in with those awesome stats.
