Hi, I'm an incoming Junior in California. I did pretty well sophomore year, managing to get a 4.0 unweighted (4.4 weighted) second semester. Science really isnt my thing, and I made the mistake of taking Bio Honors over the summer. I got a C in the first semester and a B in the second. I realize that this will have an impact on my average Junior GPA. Should I be worried? Initially, I wanted to go to Berkeley but now with this C on my transcript I'm not so sure its even worth applying.

One C won't kill your chances, especially if science isn't your thing and you won't be majoring in it. Just make sure to do very well in Junior year. Your overall record seems very good, so try not to worry about it much. I think you'll have a good shot.

I got into Berkeley with a C and plenty of Bs, just do as well as you can in school and don't slack. If you have a 4.0 Sophmore year, you have a real good shot at Cal. My Sophmore GPA was 3.5 UW (3.9 Weighted), so even with the B and C, your GPA is better than mine.

Anyway, most people going into Berkeley aren't close to having a 4.0 GPA in HS, I mean most of us were tarnished in some classes we did poorly in.

Also, apply to the schools you dream of going to so you won't have any regrets.
