I have been planning on going to UNC since April, and I just got off of the wait list at Duke. I am in the honors program at UNC and was one of 20 students selected for a first year journalism program there as well. I am interested in studying political science and journalism, and I don't know which school I want. I need advice.

Being selected for UNC’s journalism program as a freshman is a big achievement (as I’m sure you know, it is one of the best in the country). I would not pass that up if that is your passion.

…But Journalism has no future…I’m sorry, but if Journalism is your passion, I respect that.

But dude, keep it as a first priority hobby? Seriously, its a dying subject.
Do something you find interesting AND something that earns you big bucks, perhaps a three-figure salary.
You can get a GREAT opportunity to study almost anything at Duke (Duke does well in everything it does, and the name will get you to places), and you can still do journalism in the side.
IDK its up to you eventually. Just my two cents.

Good luck.

If you are 100 percent sure that you want to do journalism, go to UNC. If not, go to Duke. That’s my opinion. I have great respect for both UNC-CH and Duke… in my opinion, whatever you decide, rest assured you can’t go wrong.

^ Second the above advice, if journalism is for you, then don’t pass up the opportunity at UNC. If it’s only one of many options, then Duke might be a good place for exploration though you should also consider financial aspects, overall fit, etc.
