So just so maybe I can get an idea of the news I'll be getting this spring...

SAT I: 760CR, 680M, 710W
SAT II: 700 US History, 620 Literature, waiting on Dec 6 score
GPA: 4.5W on a 5.0 scale
Rank: 54 out of 350

ECs: a whole bunch of music related ones (voice, flute, guitar, musicals), theatre, Tri-M Music Honors Society, Gay-Straight Alliance, Writer's Circle, Girl Scouts, ~20hrs/week as shift manager at part-time job, chaperone at middle school dances...that's the bulk of them

Essay: good
Recs: great

All honors classes all four years except one standard Chemistry class, 3 APs (US History [4 on exam], US Gov&Pol, Music Theory), Principal's List all four years (highest honor roll at school)

Applying to:

Barnard
NYU
Fordham
BU
Ithaca
UMass-Amherst

what im just wondering is how active you are in each of your ECs..
like girl scouts. theres a difference between being in girl scouts and actually doing something (coming from a girl scout of 13 years.)

I'm very very active in all the music/theatre stuff, in addition to GSA, writer's circle and my job. I only chaperone the middle schoolers once a month/bi-monthly. In Girl Scouts we're admittedly not as active as we used to be but we have a number of community service things we do pretty regularly/annually (stuff we do in town, and like soup kitchen stuff).

NYU-50/50
BU-decent chance
Ithaca-very good chance
UMass-Amherst-match

I think your stats are good and as mentioned before the only thing I think you need to make clear in your apps is your ec's and how much time is spent. Other than that if you can pull off some very good essays in terms of applying your personal statement to activities or something else very insightful,. i think you will be a good candidate for all of those schools.

Good Luck! and thanks for the chance on my post :)

I don't know anything about Barnard so I can't really say, but NYU is definitely realistic, and the rest you have in the bag. You saw my stats, and I got into Fordham, so it should be a piece of cake for you. Good luck with everything!
