karki: Thanks for letting me know they changed the date. At least we know not to expect anything today! You have anymore details besides whats on the website?

The only other thing I know is that my D hasn’t received any info on the Hesburgh-Yusko either.

I just received an e-mail at 3:30 informing me that I am a semi-finalist!!!

Congrats ClaroQsi! I also received an e-mail and I wasn’t selected as a semi-finalist. Thought I had a decent shot at it. Pretty bummed but still considering ND. Good luck to everyone in being one of the 20! Sounds like an awesome program.

“We would like to extend our congratulations…” on your not being selected as a semifinalist! Sweet, thanks Hesburgh! What a thoughtful, well-written rejection notification email.

Really, that’s how you’re going to start your rejection later? Wow…

I was selected as a semi. Pretty happy about it. Might actually make ND an option for me financially.

Congrats Panky! Thank you, Rochacha.
@ilovecake - did they really write that?!

D made it to the semi-finals as well. They are going to do a phone interview next week.

@ClaroQSi: Ya, I opened my inbox to see an email from the Hesburgh-Yusko Program. In the little preview of the text, I read: “We would like to extend our congratulations.” Then I opened the email to find that I had been rejected. I’m sorry but when I read something like that, I get my hopes up : (

Does anyone know what they are going to ask on the phone interview?

I have noo idea, but I’m pretty nervous for it considering it’s only a 20 minute interview and done on the phone.

Since this scholarship is new this year, I doubt if anyone on this forum will know (or post) what they are going to ask into the interview.

For anyone else did the phone interview run short? Like 10 mins? And did they only ask 5 questions?

Yes, only 5 questions. Mine went a little bit longer, to about 15…and then i asked 5 minutes worth of questions. But it all depends how long your answers were. So we’ll see…fingers crossed, right?

Hahaha, I’m actually atheist and I was selected as a semifinalist for this thing. And by atheist, I mean very, very strong atheist. To give Notre Dame fair credit of doubt, however, I don’t believe I listed a religion or lack of religion on the common app. I wrote my Notre Dame essay on the necessity of being a devil’s advocate.

Anyway, to be more on topic, has anyone gotten finalist notification yet? I’m pretty sad Hesburgh has to coincide with Reilly Weekend…I was really looking forward to Reilly, and have made several friends there already. Might just go to that instead, as the chances of my ultimately attending Notre Dame are minuscule (as in less than .1 of a percent), if Hesburgh’s visitation will primarily be an on-site interview…anyone know what we’ll be doing there if selected?

I haven’t gotten a finalist notification yet either…so yea. Luckily I’m not too concerned now though since i got a likely from Dartmouth :)

I got a notification today via email. I wasn’t selected as finalist. Bummer. But I’m okay with it

What questions did they ask? I’d really like to know because I am really fighting for this scholarship. Thanks!

Same… any advice would help

I’d love some info too. Anything would be great! Maybe some of you guys that got through to the semi round or further could post stats? It would be a huge help!
