Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars

Hmm, still no notification either way. Anyone know if they send out decisions in groups alphabetically over a period of days?

I haven’t heard either clearhorizon. How is everyone getting notified - email or letter?

I’m pretty sure everyone is being notified by email. Maybe because so many applied they aren’t sending out all the emails at once.

Does anyone know when the finalist notifications are supposed to come out? :)

The website says late February…but the Semi-Finalist notifications were about 1-2 weeks late…so I’m guessing early March. I don’t think they finished the Skype interviews until this weekend anyways, if I remember the schedule correctly.

Has anyone heard anything yet? I haven’t heard anything either way and it’s the end of February…but I’m not surprised because they were running late with the semi-finalist notifications.

They’re releasing the finalist notifications by March 6th, which is only five days away. Argh…

Best of luck to everyone! I wonder if that survey will affect our decisions…

@TehSummit
I wasn’t under the impression that the survey will directly affect our decisions. They probably wanted to get a better picture of us and blah blah.

And only a day left… ASDJFDFASDOIQWJDKLXCJ#Q*($!@$)(&%!(@$#(!)#

SO
NERVOUS.

At least for SF I doubt that the survey carries any weight…but perhaps for finalist decisions they might. Good luck and happy waiting :)

If the survey didn’t carry any weight for the decision being made today, they wouldn’t have had everyone take it last week. Personally, I’m 100% positive it was a tool to help them decide who among the semi finalists would make the next round.

Good luck to everyone!! And congrats to all that were even selected to apply for this scholarship.

Just one quick question. Did anyone else think this was a super tough and very laborious application? My S was nominated last year by one of the ND admission officer. S got accepted EA. He spent his whole Christmas break completing this application. Ugh!!! I thought it was very painful…

FINALIST!!! AHHH!!! I am so excited and grateful… AAH!

How many applied, how many semi-finalists? Then how many finalists are selected today? Then is it narrowed down even more after the interview at ND? I am interested in this possibly for my DS17 next year. It sounds rigorous.

@stressed56

They had 700+ last year, and according to someone on CC, more than a thousand this year (one candidate per school). 100 semi-finalists, 50 finalists, and 25 recipients :)

@Dungareedoll

While writing a gazillion essays/short answers (or 15ish, rather…) wasn’t the most pleasurable experience in the world, I am grateful for having had to do it because it was a good chance/excuse/reason to really contemplate on my value systems, my ways of life, my relationships, etc.

@lovestaciee

Thanks! Good to know. Congratulations on your finalist status!Best of luck to you!

How did you find out? email or snail mail?

Anyone who made the cut willing to post brief stats - for future applicants? thanks.

Made finalist! Can’t wait to meet all of you!

In response:
ACT: 33 (35 superscore)
SAT: 2190
GPA: 4.9 (weighted, 4.0 UW)
10 honors courses, 9 AP courses (5 US Hist, World Hist, Bio, Euro Hist. In Lit/Comp, Calc AB, Phy C, Span Lang, and Econ now)
A ton of leadership experiences
Probably good rec letters-close with a lot of my teachers
Service is so-so, but a lot of my ECs are community involvement, but not necessarily Christian service

I’m not even sure if they look at test scores, tbh.

@sandyrph

Email! I don’t think they are sending out snail mail.

I’ll probably do an incredibly long stats/comments/advice post if I were to be a recipient just because I don’t want anyone to be able to identify me on CC before I’m done with my college process… (:
