Hey, any freeman scholar here?

hi,
I'm applying for that ,
does anyone have any ideas on applying to it?
essays, application process etc,,

Why do they just give them to students from specific countries? How about the other underrep Asian countries? Come on..diversity

Because the foundation that donated the money is concerned with those areas and countries, I belive (from the website: "his program is made possible by Wesleyan University and the Freeman Foundation, which aims to improve understanding and to strengthen ties between the United States and the countries and regions of the Pacific Rim.")

hi!

will probably apply as well :)

I'm from brunei which is around singapore and the philippines.. And we're not included.. Not that many bruneians go to the us tho

brunei isn't included? strange. but then again wesleyan might be able to offer you fin aid, right, since you're not from any of the 11 countries? for us, if we don't apply through the scholarship programme, we get zero aid even if we're admitted.. if i'm not mistaken.

Yup, brunei's not included.. Probably because of the lack of bruneians going to the US.. I'm not sure..
Limitedvocab- Are you sure you'll get zero aid if you don win the scholarships?

I'm not sure about fin aid internationals.. Pretty tough.. But at least i can bring diversity.. Haha

i guess we are not eligible for non-scholar fin-aids here, if i understood the officer i emailed right, at least in my country.

also, my country is not at all under represented, but i do hope so. 2 of each country is just unfair to me...

any ideas about how to prepare for the essays? I'm so sick of questions like the places im from, too much to say...

i'm pretty sure. i emailed dean overton and she said the only way i could apply to wes is through the scholarship.. and i think the webpage also mentions it.. what i meant was, if we were from any of the 11 countries, we don't get aid. any other internationals should be able to get some fin aid, though i guess it'd be pretty hard, depending on stuff.

That's the way for wesleyan to improve diversity.. 2 from each country is enough for a country to be represented at a small college like wes.. Other lacs also accept just on AVERAGE 2 or 3 on fin aid for each country.. It's all about DIVERSITY, I KNOW IT'S VERY UNFAIR FOR THE CHINESE, INDIANS..

omg
dean overton is a "she"???
