Hey guys..:D Please rate me...

Hey guys,

I will be applying to Universities in America (enrollment in 2010) and have been wondering and worried about whether I stand a chance of getting into an Ivy League university for Economics.
I am currently doing my A-levels and my grades seem pretty decent for the past couple of years. But, I am still very curious to how I will stand when being compared by these Universities to other applicants.
So please could anyone help me and rate me....Here is what I have...

IGCSE Grades...
Economics = A*
Business Studies = A*
Chemistry = A*
Biology = A*
Physics = A
Maths = A
English Language = A
English Literature = A
Information Technology = A
French = B

AS level grades...
Economics = A
Physics = A
Computing = A
Maths = B

A level predicted grades...
Economics = A
Computing = A
Maths = B

My SAT scores have not been good. I will be retaking them, but here are my results for my first try...
SAT Reasoning...
SAT Maths = 730
SAT Critical Reading = 550
SAT writing = 530
Total score = 1800

I just took a MATHS level 1 and a physics subject test as well. I will be getting those results in the coming weeks.

I pay a lot of attention to extra curriculars as well. Here they are...
-Debating (won best speaker award and helped my team to win the best debating squad at an annual school meeting)
-Drama/Acting (I have acted in 3 players in 3 years and achieved great success winning the best actor in the school twice (2007 and 2008)
-I participated in charities such as Reach Out to Asia and I went to Indonesia for charity work.
-I am in the Volleyball, Football, basketball, badminton, athletics I was in the swimming team. I have won many accolades in these sports.
-I was president of the school committe in 2006.
-I also won the Student of The Year in 2007, The HSBC Economist of the Year in 2007 and 2009.
-I have also represented the school in the mental maths competition and the Chess competition.
-I have acquired the Global Citizens award in 2009.
-I really like public speaking so I participate in activities in school to improve public speaking.
-I was prefect for the past 4 years in school.
-I am currently chair person of the High School Committee.
-I am also currently the Head Boy of my school.

I just hope I stand a chance. I am applying really soon and I need to know if I am good enough to be considered by Ivy League Uni's or Uni's like Stanford. So please tell me if I have a chance of getting in...

Please and thnks.

Your grades are good but SATs are very low for Ivy League standards. To be considered okay for them you need at least a 2200. Your grades are pretty good but the B in Maths might be a huge turn-off for some.

Hey thnks ahsanxr. Ya, I understand my SAT scores are really low and I am trying really hard to improve my english critical reading and writing scores.
Also, ya the maths is a big turn off. Its really annoying, but I guess its understandable.
But, about my extra curriculars. Do they meet the mark??? Are these enough for a regular applicant applying to Stanford or any Ivy League University???
Please reply anyone…

only need better scores for SAT. Then you are pretty much set to grab at least one Ivy

Your ECs are OK, but not exceptional for the Ivy pool.

Your SAT CR score is below the standards of the Ivies except for possibly international level star athletes or students whose parents are multimillionaire donors.

It’s even more difficult for internationals to gain admission to Ivies than it is for Americans, and it’s hard enough for Americans.

Hey guys,
OK…I am absoloutely trying my best for the SAT reasoning exams atm. I hope for a good improvement. :smiley:
Thanks guys for your time and opinions. I will keep them in mind.
