So I just sent out my app ED to Duke. Overall, I was really proud of the essays I had written. One problem: I didn't double space as required... I 1.5 spaced. Usually I laugh at people who freak out at such trivial mistakes, but going back and reading my essay now, I just think it sounds so much better when its double spaced (it somehow adds to the drama of my first essay especially). Somebody please reassure me that this is not gonna be a big deal...

Also, does anyone find that they read slower when its double spaced? My essay is meant to be kind of somber and should be read slowly, but I think the 1.5 spacing gives it a quicker pace. Again, somebody please talk some sense into me and tell me this isn't going to matter.

P.S. Current Duke Students: I would love to hear feedback on my Why Duke essay. PM me if you would like to read it. Thanks.

I applied ED too, and my personal statement is also 1.5 spaced

did you apply by paper or online?

paper.

Thanks collegegirl, at least I'm not the only one.

I applied on paper too and my why duke is double spaced but my person statement is 1.5

i used online and the common app, since it doesnt say to double space on the common app I didnt, maybe I should have but then again it was copy and paste so it is a little different

I started to laugh, but then I remembered how I agonized over whether to staple or paper clip my applications last year. :o

I honestly don't think it's a big deal. :)

did u staple or paper clip? I did both...haha

Oh gosh I so remember a staple vs. paperclip discussion last year. You have to wonder if the work study filing/entering all the stuff really cares.

Well all my essays were single-spaced, and I got in, so I don't think it really matters.

yeah mine were also single-spaced/handwritten

I'm sure that it's not a big deal. Besides, you've already sent it in...
