Hey Prospectives!

svb, phew, glad to hear you are lovin’ it at PSU then.

You can reach me by clicking on my member name: SoozieVT and go to “email member” and I should get it. Then again, the email system through CC is having some problems lately to certain servers, including AOL. My personal (not work) email is on AOL and so just in case, you can use SoozieVT at AOL. That said, I love to help people and it is one reason I volunteer frequently on CC to help (and also just to participate for fun too), but it lets me help many at one time. For individualized help, I truly cannot handle the many personal requests for individual help that get sent to me very frequently as my volunteering would be a full time “job” and I already devote a lot of hours to volunteering here. I have to use my individual help time for students and families who are working with me as it is VERY VERY busy right now for my real job. Shoot me your question and I can see if it is a quick thing to try to answer you but can’t promise to help the many emails that get sent to me through CC. Thus, I try to help voluntarily on the forum as one way of helping instead.

soozievt: thank you very much, i understand the amount of aid you give on this site and appreciate you attempting to answer my question if time allows!

BWMT: i suppose the better question would have been is there anything different that students need to do when auditioning as a transfer…such as a different application, ect.

Here is the link to the web page for Transfer Admissions. Good luck to your friend!

[Baldwin-Wallace :: Adult & Transfer Admission](http://www.bw.edu/admission/apply/ewapps.asp)

Hello! I do have another quick question.

I’m sitting here trying to think of a good way to start the music essay and i was wondering, who actually reads the essay?

Thanks!

Hi there! I know for a fact that Anita- the admissions counselor- reads them. She wrote a comment about it in my acceptance packet.

Thanks! I met her when I visited. She was very helpful and even wrote a nice note on a piece of mail we received a couple weeks after visiting.

Back to work, thanks for the help!

My D is disappointed. She’d love to apply to BW. But she cannot fit a campus audition in. Wish BW did Unifieds.

Quick question – D put in an email request (through B-W’s online system) asking for a college visit appointment. It’s been about a month since she made the request (she wants to be on campus a week from Friday) and she hasn’t heard anything except “robo” replies – anybody know how long it takes them to confirm a campus visit (we’ll be making hotel reservations, etc, so would definitely like confirmation!)? Just sent a follow-up email to admissions…is it better to call? Is this handled through email or US Mail? (She’s received both, from other colleges on the “first grand tour”.) Since she’s interested in the conservatory/MT (stressed this on both the online form and follow-up email) is there some other way this is scheduled/handled?

Call! Anita’s in until 5:00 usually! The number will be on the website…

Hi everyone! Just posted this in another thread-- thought some of you might like to read it, too–

Here’s a breakdown of the audition day:
You show up in the morning (around 9:00), and we have a short meeting explaining how the day works. After that the parents stay downstairs and have meetings about financial aid and other parent-y things. We take the auditioners upstairs and have a round table with current students (mostly seniors) where you can ask questions about the program and school and… whatever. We take you out of that room when it’s time for your audition and you get some time in a practice room before you go into the room with Vicky (program director) Nancy Maier (music director), and Anna Maria D’Antonio (dance teacher). You’ll have 3 songs and a monologue prepared, Vicky will choose 2 of your songs and you’ll do those and then your monologue. Nice and easy. : ) After the morning session of auditions there will be a lunch break (we give you lunch), and then you’ll sit in on a master class with an industry professional from New York-- an agent or casting director. Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores perform for them. After the master class, we all walk over to the dance studio for the dance call with Anna Maria. There is a ballet section and a jazz section of the call. After that there’s a Q&A with Vicky and then you’re dismissed-- Plan on being there until 6:00.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions! : )

Just returned from B-W and have to say what a great experience it was. My D loved everything! The students were so welcoming - and extremely talented. It was so great to be able to sit in on the master class and see the students work with the master class instructor.

It truly is, as BWMT2012 says, an all-day affair. Those auditioning got a real workout! The parents were kept busy and we had a terrific lunch (thanks B-W!)

So glad to hear you enjoyed your day here!! Best of luck!

BWMT2012 my daughter is a waitlist from the fall auditions. From what I have found on CC and web search it doesn’t look good for an opportunity to attend BW. They also sent discouraging statistics from last year in the letter she recieved. Do you have any idea how many students were waitlisted from the fall? I now wonder if it wouldn’t have been better to audition later after they had seen more students. We really liked the school and the audition experience was great.

I totally know what you’re going through!! I was waitlisted, myself. It is so hard-- I tried to crunch numbers and everything, too, but now that I’m here and seeing how the process works, I realize that it really isn’t a statistical thing at all… I know that sounds silly and unrealistic, but it’s all about “casting” a perfect class. I don’t know how many were waitlisted from fall auditions-- a good way to keep track of the other kids auditioning this year is for your daughter to join the 2014 MT facebook group. And keep in touch with B-W throughout the process. We know what an important step this is, and I wish your daughter the best!

My audition for MT is on February 20! I’m terrified. But in a good way :] I know its an extremely late audition, but I was working on fixing some voice problems which are now definitely improving. :]

For the dance portion, should I wear tights/leotard? It only says “bring appropriate movement clothes and jazz shoes.”

And for the monologue/singing portion, a dress or skirt?

I know I have more questions, but I can’t think of them right now. I’ll let you know if I remember haha.

Hello-- for the dance call, tights and a leotard are perfect. There’s a ballet call and a jazz call, so that might determine the type of shoes you bring.

Wear something flattering that expressed yourself for the audition!

Thank you!

On my application, I said I would bring a piece of music to play to show that I could play piano. When do you think that would happen? And do you think playing piano helps my chances of getting in?

The piano placement testing is strictly that: placement. It has nothing to do with admission to the MT program. It simply determines the level of piano that you would enter into. It would be scheduled sometime during your day here at BW.
