Hey Prospectives!

mollyklc - My D auditioned last week. When she signed in at 9:00, she was given a folder that listed all her times - sight singing, piano and the audition. At the beginning of the day, everyone is in one large room for the round table discussion. The great and friendly B-W students will be coming in and out calling small groups to go to the different rooms for these activities. She had a prepared piano piece and I believe she also sight read a piece they had for her. She is a relative beginner but actually enjoyed the piano portion because the auditor was so nice (as they all were!) I would say just relax and enjoy it. My D came away loving B-W even more because the audition day was such a positive experience. Break a leg!

BWMT2012-Thank you for all the great information you are providing on this thread! I was wondering if you attended the B-W summer program when you were in high school. If not, do you know anything about how it compares to other similar summer programs? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have!

austinmtmom - Thanks so much! That definitely makes me feel a lot calmer about the whole process. Best of luck to your D! Maybe both of us will get in and even meet this fall! haha

I did not attend the summer workshop with Vicky. A couple of my classmates did! I know that it’s a great opportunity to work on your possible audition material with Vicky, which is an amazing opportunity. I know that there is a page with more information through the BW website! Best of luck! Sorry I can’t be more informative!

I have a quick question I am hoping someone from BW can answer. What happens if an audition day has to be cancelled because of weather?

Not sure if you mean on our end or yours… Either way, for the best answer call Anita Evans at (440) 826-2368.

Thanks for your kind offer! Does BW require a Classical monologue for MT?

The requirements are 3 contrasting cuts of songs (about 32 bars) and one monologue-- contemporary or classic-- whatever the auditioner connects to most and loves doing!

I know I’m a little late on this, but thanks so much for this form. It’s helping my daughter out a lot with her auditions! This is her dream school.

That’s wonderful! Good luck to her!

I wanted to relay that my son is a junior at BW and has had an incredible experience in the Musical Theater program. I am so happy he selected this school over the many others he had to choose from for a number of reasons: liberal arts degree (able to minor or double major), intensity of music training, professional theater training, access to master classes with top name casting agents, 4 years of stage experience, opportunity to receive training in opera, piano, dance, etc, I could go on and on. I am happy to answer any questions from prospective parents or students.

I’m hoping you might be able to give us some audition advice…
My D currently has an audition set up for Jan. 21, but is now considering changing it to a later date (mostly because she would like to brush up on her piano piece for the audition and she is nervous about being exhausted from finals this week and the beginning of next week). The only other date she can audition is the last day of auditions on Feb. 25th. Is there any disadvantage to waiting to the last day of auditions? Will most of the spots honestly already be filled? And how important is the piano part of the audition… is it really just for placement purposes? I’m leaning towards encouraging her to stick with the Jan. 21st date anyway, but thought you might have some insight into this. Thanks for any help you can give us.
