Hi! How are you? My friend wants to be a Midd Kidd. =D

So, a good friend of mine wants to apply ED to Middlebury.

Her SAT scores are as follow:

Writing: 770
Reading: 780
Math: 570

Ouch. The math hurt a lot.

And her SAT II scores are as follow:

720 History
680 Literature
490 Math II

I know that Middlebury lets you substitute scores, but can you substitute a SAT II score (Maybe history) for a bad SAT I score?

If not, will she be able to apply ED, and then take the SAT IIs and SAT I and then send them in as additional information before they release the acceptance letters?

Many schools will accept the November SAT for ED candidates, almost all will accept the October one. In order to be sure, you'll need to look on the college's website. Also, she could consider taking the ACT.

Here, I looked this up for you:
"Results of the October ACT or the November SAT II will normally arrive in time to be reviewed for Early Decision 1, and tests taken during December will usually arrive in time to be considered for Early Decision 2."

And I have no idea about the substituting scores policy, but perhaps poking around the site more will yield information. And congrats to her on the reading/writing scores, those are excellent.

why didn't she take Math I instead?

She felt that she knew the stuff covered in Math II well enough.
