Hi! I will "Chance You!"—Currently a Junior at Yale

Lol I just found this website and I noticed a bunch of you requesting the “chance me”—I’ve helped a bunch of students with applications and essays so I like to help when I get the chance. I will “chance you” if you’d like me to! Currently a Junior majoring in Economics at Yale, if you’d like to know my credentials and academics let me know! I will gladly help kids in this grueling process.

Hello

Hi @shadeywanluv !

Please what are my chances of getting into Colgate early decision with a score of 1380. 600 verbal and 780 math. I’m from Ghana, Africa

Which other schools do you suggest I also apply to with me getting full financial aid

@shadeywanluv Hmmm well just a SAT score won’t tell me much…I can tell you it’s below average (lower average is like a 1400) but as I said you’re just telling me one score so I can’t say. I’m unfortunately not super familiar with financial aid statistics, especially cause I only know your SAT, maybe if you gave me a little more insight I could help? Let me know

Amber

What else do you want to know?

I do plan do apply to ivies and I know that asking this is basically pointless, but what do you think my chances are at getting into harvard/yale/princeton given my essays/the profile im trying to create?

Hi! I’m wondering, in general, what my chances would be for yale/other top schools. My unweighted GPA is a 4.0 and my weighted is a 4.32 because the first high school I went to - up to midway through my junior year - only offered AP English 11 and AP English 12. (I transferred schools February of my junikr year because the high school I had been attending 9-11th grade closed due to low enrollment.) Now, I’m at a big public school with many course options so my senior year schedule includes 5 APs which I’ll most likely have all As in for my midyear reports. My ACT composite (I’m not submitting my SAT) is a 30: 35 English, 26 Math, 31 Reading, and 29 Science. 9 on the essay. I also have a 5 on an AP English exam - the only AP exam i’ve been able to take so far. my main extracurriculars include theater + international thespian society (a few awards and held position as historian ), Model UN (multiple awards and held position as president), student gov secretary 2 years, spanish honors society, and creating a curriculum to teach English classes to Spanish-speaking members of my community. i’d like to major in International Relations or one of the other social sciences. Also, I’m not sure if this affects anything with my chances, but I am a minority - i’m Native American, enrolled in a tribe and everything.

My rank is 48/370 - top 13%. my essay is about having to switch schools - showed it to my English teacher and she loved it and said my voice really comes through. and this one might be risky but, on apps that have a supplemental essay, i plan to write about my dad leaving to go to rehab for alcohol addiction and how i see both the good and the bad in him and that leads me to see the good and bad in everything

(my rank isn’t very good because of the lack of APs at the first school i went to)

Hey @maralyn99

After reading your profile I got this:
-Works very hard
-Good ECs
-Low ACT for Ivies/Top Schools
-Native American! This could be the biggggg one!!!

As I say to many kids…the GPA is great, but if an Ivy wants perfect scores they can easily get perfect scores from applicants…they want kids with the big spike and passions! I recommend getting your ACT up if you can…at least a 31…that 26 in Math is a turn off…I know harsh, but that’s what their gonna see. Now, I’m really liking the tribe and Native American…schools strive for diversity and I looked it up, Native Americans make up about 1.5% of the American population! That’s key right there…I can see a really good common app essay from this…what is your essay topic?

@maralyn99

Gotta get the Native American in there somewhere…it makes you, well you! And that’s u n i q u e ! I’m sorry about your dad, yes I think that’s got a good heart and story…switching schools could be a supplemental? I mean you probably wrote that already…as I said get the Native American aspect in there, colleges love diversity.

P.S ill get 30 mates to chance you

Hi @uglylad

You sound extremely driven and smart, well done on your academics! You should be very proud. Unfortunately, there’s a but though—Harvard, MIT, and Stanford are crapshoot schools. What you gotta do is get the academic qualifications to get yourself in their “perfect GPA/Score drawing bid”, and I’m assuming you’re in the raffle based on your GPA—gotta get that SAT asap! But think about it, if Standord wants a perfect scorer, a well rounded applicant—crap ton of APs and let’s say two internships and 200+ service hours—easily done. I’m guessing about a couple thousand kids sound just like that. What you need is your spike, what makes you, you? What makes you unique? Colleges want kids who will be the next Steve Jobs or Elon Musk so they can brag about them, but not every kid who goes to MIT is one of those, but that’s what they’re searching for. My friend who currently attends MIT developed a formula in math at the age of like thirteen, it was published in a book and such—that’s a spike. (Don’t get intimidated this guy was just so smart! He’s cruising at MIT lol but you get my gist) (My spike was Math and such, I was in Calculus BC at the age of fourteen) Now I get application date is approaching fast—early is November correct? So there’s not much you can do outside the application.

When I read your profile I got these things that sounded interesting:

-Radios
-Computers
-disability

Expand on those perhaps in your application, in an essay—what do you plan to major in? They can be your spike.
