Hi - I think that I would like either a high rise or a low rise as a freshman - are there differences between the high rises? How hard is it to make friends across campus if you don't live in the Quad?

High rises tend to be less social than the other buildings, which can be a downside for freshman. If you want to live in the high rises, I’d recommend the Freshman Experience program in Harrison. Not sure if I’d recommend Harnwell for freshmen, just because I have a couple friends who lived there and they complained that it was hard to meet people…

Thanks CDN - I liked Harrison on the tours - I didn’t get much of a sense of what Harnwell is like - but people pretty much said the same things you did -

Harrison has a freshman-specific residential program. Apply to that if you’re going to be in the high rises unless you want to be really antisocial.
