Do you really miss out on all that much if you go into a high-rise dorm in your freshman year? It sounds as if the freshman are all concentrated to a few floors, which makes it sound like there’s going to be some kind of community, even if it’s not as strong as in the Quad.

i'd love to be in a highrisesss yo bomb diggity home stump. if his status and hood I ain't checkin with him

i personally wish i would have been put in a high rise because you can throw bomb ass parties there. Plus it's easier to get housing there soph year if you previously lived there.

Are there any major quality differences between Hamilton, Harnwell, and Harrison? The housing app only lets you put 3 quad dorms. I put three quad and two Hill dorms, but that still leaves me two options short. Which high rises are the nicest/would be good for a freshman?

haha, they changed to only let you put 3 quad? Guess they're trying to stop people from putting all 10 down like I did..

Generally Hamilton is known to be the nicest dorm.. hopefully it lives up to those expectations because it's where i'm living next year! lol

Dang, me and two other guys wanted to get a triple in Hamilton. But you can't pick TWO roomates. Oh well.

I think my first choice is going to be Hill, and then after that highrises.

chocoman - you can pick friend 1, who picks friend 2, who picks you (maybe)

thats what I was thinking, but it says that it will only happen if your roomate picks you and you pick your roomate.

Hmmmmm.

Im too lazy to read the booklet properly - when do we have to choose housing by...?

as a freshman you wanna live in the QUAD! that's where fling goes on!!! the party fun and where all the freshman are! highrises is where you go sophomore with and do community living with your friends that you form during freshman year...

Hey guys,

I am a freshman at Penn and I would say, you want to live in the quad during freshman years. The reason is because it's closer to a lot of places and also, spring fling happens here. I think it's the nicer dorm and it's a really nice community. Not to say that the high rises are not for those of you who want to live there, you may have a harder time when getting together to do homework and whatnot because most freshman live in Hill and the quad.

E-mail me if you have any questions, glad to help :D

There's no way you'd get a triple as a freshman. My friends applied within the highrise they live in now and didn't get it. Sorry.

i agree with angel girl. i'm also a freshman in the quad. it's where you want to be. community, social, make friends. the highrises are awful for that if you're a freshman.

I also say if you're a freshman, you should try to live in the Quad. There's a reason every other freshman is applying there too. Socially, architechturally, etc, it can't be beat.

I lived in Kings Court my freshman year and hated the place. But I still loved Penn overall.

As of this fall, the high rises will all be rennovated and theoretically equally as nice. However I'd still avoid Harrison/high rise south because even after rennovation it seems to have lots of plumbing and elevator problems.
