High school class of 2016

Wow, even then, 7 exams? The only exams I had to take were for English, Algebra II and Chemistry. I’m taking history but technically it’s an elective for Freshmen. No exams for Spanish or P.E.

School ends May 23! 19 days left I believe.

hailbo were you asking me? I’m talking about this semester. My school ends June 6. Ugh.

Exams in Geometry, Biology, History, Financial Literacy, English, and Spanish

And my school gets out June 21st…

My school gets out around June 6th or something around there.

That sucks a lot Prep. What do you do with so many other days??

We get out May 21. Our SOL’s start next week. My honors earth science one is next week and we haven’t even learned all of the material yet :0

Responding to @secjoa8: We start school around August 30th. The school year consisted of a LOT of snow days ( about 7 days worth) and as a result it was pushed back all that way. So technically, we would have gotten out June 14th…

Sadly, we have finals on the last days of school which means you can’t just chill or relax near the end of school.

Fortunately, if I finish the year in good standing (according to all private/prep schools) I will attend a prep school next year. The year is usually from September 5 - May 30th and involves two two-week vacations and a week vacation near Thanksgiving. :)

Wow! I’d like to go to that prep school. Or any, in that matter. It’s hard to find people interested in learning at my public school.

I actually thought the same thing this year. It’s really fun to be with people who want to be challenged and do extremely well in life. ^^ That’s why I joined CC. Also, is the atmosphere at your school a “go with the flow” with most of the kids?

I need a new name for my CC account by the way… Any suggestions?

Yes, my school atmosphere is “go with the flow” or even “only losers go to college”. My friends are, individually, interested in learning, but around each other they think it’s stupid. Maybe I should tell all of them that none of us frown upon education and we can have more fun…

About your name…it’s your name. I don’t think it matters.

I don’t know, that’s hard to say. I can’t think of many names.

Should I go to a prep school? I don’t know if I should. There’s a really good one near my house and the school is across the street from Cal-Tech. The school is really associated with the university. My school isn’t so bad, there’s a good amount of AP classes and smart kids. Should I go?

Would it cost a lot of money? Would you stand out there?

Hoping if someone could help me with a dilemma.
Would u guys choose a public HS (no AP nor IB) with a good reputation or a decent private IB school with scholarship and great potential?

No AP or IB? I’d say go with be private school.

At my school, if you’re in honors classes, you’re surrounded by people who want to do well. A casual conversation may be about college. Actually, we a VERY competitive in terms of grades. Everyone asks about one another’s grades. Sometimes, I find being surrounded by smart kids all the time is exhausting.

Just check financial aid statements from the school. Usually schools can give a decent amount of FA.

What are you all doing over the summer? I’m freaking out right now because I’m not doing any camps or anything, but I feel like I should.

Upward Bound, going to Colombia, USC Enviromental Science thingy, we ask this question a lot here. That, schedules for next year, extra curriculars, what other questions are asked a lot here?

Hey who’s got AP exams coming up?
I’ve got just one, Human Geography.
