@Apollo11

Dang. You’ve got a solid schedule. I have to fight through to convince my guidance counselor that I can take AP Chemistry. I mean, I got a 99 in Chemistry 1 H without trying, and I can really work hard to get a good grade in it.

If I can manage to fit AP Chemistry in my list, next year I’ll have:

Chamber Strings H
AP Music Theory
Differential Calculus H/AP Calculus AB (Diff. Calc. is required right before AP Calc.)
AP World History
AP Chemistry

My schedule for next year:
AP Euro
AP Chemistry
Honors English
Honors Advanced Math
Spanish 3
P.E.

I don’t think I can have that much of a better schedule. I don’t think AP Calc is necessary right now, going on my track I can take the most AP math classes they offer at my school.

@hailbo

What were your prerequisites for AP Chemistry? My school for some reason makes a lot of AP Classes a whole year long (even though it’s block schedule) with an Honors class before it in the 1st semester. Like:

Physics 1H/AP Physics B
Chemistry 2H/AP Chemistry
Differential Calculus H/AP Calculus AB
Human Biology H/AP Biology
Spanish 4H/AP Spanish

Wow. You guys do a lot over the summer. All I’m doing is a trip to help people in poverty with various things and football practice…

@secoja8 We don’t really need prerequisites for AP Classes. If your teacher thinks you can do it you go ahead and do it. My teacher for Chem is the AP teacher and she really wants me to do it next year. For math you need to do at least Advanced Math/Pre-Calc to start AP Calculus AB and then next year BC. I’m able to take AP Bio in 11th and AP Physics B in 12th.

@hailbo

I really want to take AP Chemistry, but it conflicts with my schedule because I have to take Chemistry 2 the 1st semester. I’m trying to work it out that I don’t need the 1st semester because I don’t know when else I can take the class.
Our online schools suck in our area. I can’t even take more advanced stuff even though the website is bragging about how much they “help advance students”. They offer just a few Honors classes and then just crap classes.

@secoja8 Wow, I feel lucky now. Do you have block schedule? Maybe that’s why. Why do we even need perquisites for? Most AP’s are supposed to mirror basic college classes. They wouldn’t tell you you need prerequisites in college.

@hailbo Yeah, I have block schedule. Even if I can opt out of the 1st semesters of the AP classes that need prerequisites, it still means that I have to take those classes 2nd semester. Which means I don’t have a lot of classes I can take in a year. So it’s almost as if I have to take those stupid prerequisites.
We have a lot of AP classes compared to a lot of schools, but the way we teach/learn them…ugh.

^You’re doing AP Calc half-year!?!?!? That’s pretty crazy! BTW Honors Chamber Strings seems sweet. However, you guys only do 5 classes a year? My school does 8, 4 a day for 88 minutes.

Also, here is my full schedule:**
Honors English 10
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Chemistry
AP Physics B
AP Computer Science
AP Statistics
AP European History/Pre-AP American History
Spanish III
**

@Apollo11 alright let’s see if I can explain this quickly:

Chamber Strings H and AP Music Theory take up 2 blocks, all year, at our Fine Arts Center. Then I have Differential Calculus H 1st semester and AP Calculus AB the next. Since there’s a pre-AP requirement in the 1st semester of the AP Chemistry class, and I’m opting out of the prerequisite, I’ll be taking AP Chemistry 2nd semester. Then I’ll have AP World History 1st semester.

Y’all seem a little crazy with all these AP’s. Do ya’ll plan on having a life during the school year? Not to be blunt, but studying 2 hours a day during the SUMMER for SAT’s? We are rising SOPHOMORES. It’s too bad I have to compete with some of you guys for college…

@Highschool2016 there are a lot of dedicated people out there. There are some people that are in Calculus AB in freshman year and other stuff like that. I’m not the kind of person who studies at all, so yes I will have a life. :)

Lol, @Highschooler2016, I’d have nothing to anyway.

Here’s my schedule:

Accelerated Math 2 (second 1/2 of sophomore work, 1st 1/2 of Junior work)
Gifted Chemistry
Spanish III
Gifted Literature 10
AP World History (only one eligible)
Debate II

(I’ll be doing nothing over the summer except for Assignments & possibly interning)

10th Grade ECs:
JV Quiz Bowl (very likely for Captain)
Spanish Honors Society
Science Olympiad
Novice Debate (if any of y’all wanna give me the low down on Debate THANKS!)

@TheAtlantic nice. Do you know if your World History class does debates a lot like ours will?

Also, what AP classes are you all planning to take all through high school? I don’t have time to write mine, but I have 17 planned.

I have 7 APS planned. Honestly, compared to you guys, I’m pretty average. I’m depending on my sport to help my application. Heading to state next week for track. I didn’t even want to qualify ugh.
