Geometry is mostly just memorizing facts and being able to do algebra after recalling those facts. Not that bad if you can do that with ease

Edit: but it is a lot easier if you understand the principles that the facts are based on.

@kimm1234:

I tried taking a geometry class over the summer, and was so confused, but when I came to school, geometry was like second nature, so don’t give up!

Also, autoexec is right. Just memorize the theorums and postulates, and you’ll know all of geometry!

I recommend Holt/McDougal, 2007 or 2011 [IDK, but it’s either 2011 or 2010], depending on whatever is cheaper

Apollo/autoexec - Thanks! I absolutely love algebra but I’m not so sure about geometry. Right now I’m going through Geometry for Dummies, haha. I’ll try to work on memorization. Thank you!

^Geometry is mostly basic algebra and memorizing rules. It isn’t too hard, and with the right teacher, you can have a lot of fun. However, don’t slack off! If you don’t understand any concept, go to your teacher! Trust me, it’ll help! Also, ask if you can do extra credit on the 1st day, that way you won’t be asking for some the day before the quarter ends. Maybe you could write about the Fibonnaci Sequence in Nature or The Mandelbrot Set!

I’m a big nerd, if you couldn’t tell :P

Haha! Yeah, another problem is that the teacher is apparently “Satan personified,” according to basically everyone that’s ever had her. Fingers crossed that I can get on her good side. :P

^I had a teacher like that; she hated me! However, if you are soft-spoken and hard-working, you can usually get on a teacher’s good side.

I’m on the debate team though, so all I’ll do is argue!

I’m doing debate this year! I took debate class, and my teacher convinced me to do it next year.

I really should finish the rest of this summer work, the sooner it’s done, the sooner I can focus on what’s really important: Quizbowl and Buying Stuff

^Do it! I love debate! I have so many smart friends through it, and I am really good [My sis is better though; she got like 2nd or 1st ranked speaker in the state of CT :P]!

Also, quizbowl sounds really cool! I’m doing the quizbowl thing at my school next year

I’m doing public forum next year.
I was going to do Lincoln Douglass but my partner for PF would be the same guy that I’ve always worked with in class debate so I already know how we work together.

I’ve done parliamentary and extemp. I went to States [CT doesn’t go to Nationals
] and Yale Osterweiss for parli, and I did really well at both, just missing the eliminations at Osterweiss.

I have braces and they suck. I can’t wait to get them off in about seven months. Also, no offense to anyone, but who studies for the PSAT? Not me. All the freshman took it this year already. Wasn’t anything crazy difficult. My school even gave us a study guide made by the college board. The teachers told us the tests cost about $14 each and the study guide isn’t free either…well, taxes I guess.

@kimm - Geometry is honestly the easiest class ever. Slept through the whole year and got 100 on the final and 101 year average. There is memorization, but it only takes a minute or two to pound it into your head.

Geometry was an awesome class for critical thinking just because you can apply any thing there to anything in real life practically. :P

Well I mean if you want NAS/NMS it’s worth a few hours just to get in the groove

I would have enjoyed geometry if only the teacher wasn’t so depressed.

To add to what I said, when I say I don’t study I meant I didn’t study this time around. Maybe this next time I will. I definitely will for Junior year.

This is an awful place to ask for advice on classes considering that each kid here had a different teacher and a different curriculum (somewhat).

^Yeah…

However, it’ll get better when we are taking the SAT’s or ACT’s

I didn’t really like Geometry all that much…
I got either a 99 or 100 each quarter but during the state final exam, I honestly had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

NO!!!
I just dropped 70 flashcards of economics work!

Ugh!

I’m so mad!
