All this year?

What are your top three choices for NSLI-Y?

All this year?

What are your top three choices for NSLI-Y?

^Yeah.

My Top 3 would be:

Summer Arabic
Summer Russian
Academic Year, Mandarin

Hmm I watched the first two episodes of it I think. Didn’t see much racism, but people just love to watch that stuff so I’m not surprised that they made racism a part of it for ratings.

Good luck!
I’ve heard that once you do YES or NSLI-Y, you can’t do the other. I’m not exactly sure on that though…
I really want Arabic Summer and I’m thinking about only applying for that but I don’t want it to come across as not being open minded. There is a sample app up for NSLI-Y if you haven’t seen it.

You can do NSLI-Y multiple times and you can do any non-US Government sponsored one multiple times, but that is the full extent of that…

Also, I have completely forgotten to start the apps! Thanks for reminding me!

You have to watch more than the first two episodes to see it and there DEFINITELY is racism on the show. I don’t think it was for the ratings, it’s a live show and some of the houseguest are acting like bullies this season.

@Apollo.
They changed the rules last year. You can only do year and summer for the same language unless its Persian summer. But I think overall you’re only allowed two scholarships. It’s somewhere on the website or sample app…

Hmmm watched a bit of it, at least what TMZ put up on youtube. Seems petty. I do wish that all people, regardless or race, would step up and act like Howard does to the situation.

It gets worse every episode. Another houseguest also called them out on it but they denied it. Overall, I think it will be interesting to see what happens when each of those girls gets evicted and faces Julie after all those remarks they made about Asians.

Have any of you here done JSA before? Or planning on doing it next summer?

I actually just got in to watching Big Brother (it seemed so complicated to me before)

the show isn’t scripted (as it’s live 24 hours). These girls have lost their jobs over these hateful comments, so I doubt what’s going is fake or being blown out of proportion.

These girls are stuck in high school, thinking they can bully their way in to power.

I feel really bad for Candice. And I can’t help but think that CBS wants Howard to go off on Aaryn, given his anger issues.

And if Elissa keeps getting MVP I’m gonna scream.
(I love how Arryn Grimes «called Aryan by some» and GinaMarie «who’s last name is Zimmermann’s ironically» have lost their jobs.)

The public will not stand for racism anymore. And I’m happy for that

Well said
I think I’ll stop watching it after the next few episodes. The game isn’t as good as it use to be this season.

(I just realized how incoherently that came out. Last time I type long rants using a phone)
Yeah, I’ve always been more partial to Survivor anyway.
I actually just looked up the extent of what was being said, and it was even worse that what I had already heard…

Yeah, I can’t wait for Survivor.
Last season I stopped watching after Malcolm left. He was my favorite player and I was really rooting for him.
Amazing race is definitely my favorite show though. I love seeing all the cool places they go to, especially in HD, LOL :D

Hahahhaha…
I liked Malcolm better 2 years ago, but not last year. I was upset to see Francesca go home first (and Phillip was the most irritating person ever). I was really happy to see Cochran win though (I liked Dawn most, before she went loopy)

I’m not sure if you remember Sandra from Heroes vs Villians, but she was always my favorite.

Next year is supposed to be some sort of Blood vs. Water thing, so that should be interesting.

It’s definitely amazing how Cochran won and went to Harvard. It’s a good goal to have.

I just wanted Malcolm to get a second shot at the game, especially since he came sooo close the first time. Malcolm went to Dartmouth too and I heard Nick from Big Brother went to Yale but I think he dropped out or something…not sure on that. Phillip was funny the first time and it was kinda interesting to see Brandon go off on his tribe. And good for Cochran, I remember he was a very big fan of the game. Blood vs. Water definitely sounds interesting.

Nice to know you watch something other than GossipGirl or Pretty little liars :)

Me or Slytherclaw?
Cause I’m a guy…
And watch neither of those.

I do watch The Good Wife though.

You, but I guess it was just a general statement. I don’t watch them either though. I just mentioned that because a lot of people I know at my age don’t pay attention to Survivor or Amazing Race…

I’m a guy and watch Survivor… I dont really watch big brother. And the thing is, Malcolm went to Dartmouth for football so idk. But he has to be smart to a certain extent.

He was pretty smart in the game if that counts, LOL.
