High school class of 2016

wow i didn’t even see the opening, but I guess I probably should since it sounds so awesometastical

and @swinter no prob! I read your rating and I was like HOLD DA FONE!!!

Some of the people in those threads are so reluctant to give adequate scores; as if that some how makes their scores any better.

Yeah but the person who rated me, their schedule was crazy. Of course they thought I deserved a 7. But I mean I don’t know any way to make my schedule any better other than to self-study a bunch of APs. Plus I don’t want all my classes to be academic classes, you know? I know that TV production seems like a fluff class (and it probably is) but I’m hoping it will display my interest in filmmaking because I plan to enter short film contests and other stuff too. The only way my sophomore schedule can be better is if I take pre-calc this summer so I can take calc bc as a sophomore and if my French teacher makes good on her promise and puts me in either honors French 3 or 4 my sophomore year. I’m trying the best I can but my schedule is basically the best one that’s available to me right now.

Is it weird to say that I read this entire thread in June, and that I’ve been reading every comment ever since? (o.o)

Eh, I figured I’d finally say so since Bassoon posted in the HS Class of 2015 xD

You people are just so entertaining.

I think it’s super cool that you are taking tv production! I think everybody should take ONE elective to show that they aren’t robots.

However, I think I’m going to quit music theory so I can take more aps. In addition to the information I got from the schedule rating thread, there is also an interesting story that I want to share with you that makes me want to opt out of Music Theory:

My music program has a thing where AP MT students go the the middle and elementary schools to get a feel for teaching. When the students came, we were playing a music review game. My music teacher gave them a harder question then what she usually gave us, and they were stumped. However, I wasn’t. I knew the answer. That made me really doubt the prestigiousness of the theory program.

So I will probably self-study music theory, but not take the exam - if I go to a music college/conservatory, I won’t get credit for the exam; I’ll have to take a theory placement exam. If I don’t decide to major in music, I will get elective credit, but why would I want that? I want to enjoy my electves!

So yeah. Hopefully it’s not too late to change my courses. What do you guys think? Will they let me change? Should they? Should I even change my courses? I really need guidance here.

@ college fountain - lol, sorry for hijacking your thread - I hope you don’t mind!

I don’t know if this is unorthodox, but upperclassmen are always welcome here!!!

Lol, it’s okay. Thanks, glad to be welcomed here. The other thread is kind of boring x_x

@collegefountain Aw, I’m touched. You think we’re entertaining!! Lol. But yeah the 2015 thread seems kinda boring. The last time I creeped on there (which admittedly was a while ago) they were talking about which SAT subject tests they were going to take.

swinter and college fountain could you guys give me advice

@Bassoon: Hmm, I think the person who criticized you about your electives shouldn’t have an influence on what YOU want to do. If you love music that much, I think you should stick with music theory. I also think you don’t need to change your courses (I saw your schedule in the Rate My Schedule thread). If you end up not liking music theory your freshman year, then you’ll have an idea of what to expect for future music courses in years to come. If you do want to change your courses, you should try to do so before schedules come out and school begins.

@Swinter: IT IS, aha. Everyone just talks about their own thing there without caring about what another poster has mentioned.

Oh yeah of course. I think that if you’re not interested in music theory or you think you won’t enjoy it, then don’t take it. Simple as that. But don’t not take it just because you wanna amp up your schedule and add an AP.

Oh, I didn’t even notice that collegefountain had posted.

@collegefountain yeah here at 2016 we’re all pretty well acquainted and friendly haha  everyone on 2015 seems so… competitive or cutthroat or something.

Lol. This is the place to be then! Haha. Btw, is your username a reference to the swinter episode of Phineas & Ferb?

I was wondering that too

Lol yes!! I was waiting for someone to ask me that!

I was afraid to ask when I first came on here cause I didn’t want anyone going: OMG You Watch That?? lol

Thanks for the advice guys!
the thing is, I don’t think it will be a good use of my time. I just don’t know! :(

Just cause a few questions in the class were easy doesn’t make it any less rigorous, it just makes you bright. And don’t take a class if you’re not going to be able to sit through it for whatever reason. Do what makes you happiest. 9th grade is your chance to get a fill for things so take advantage of that. There’s 2-3 more years to take your elite classes

Yeah, I could just take it freshman year and see if I like it - if not, I’ll just choose a different class next year.

@Atlantic haha I watch it all the time! It’s one of those shows where you don’t have to watch every episode to keep up and understand which is why I like it. And I like the songs :)

@Bassoon Yeah, good idea. I mean, like Atlantic said, ninth grade is a time to find out what interests you. That’s why I’m gonna join a bunch of clubs that interest me and downsize when I find what I like.
