@DigitalKing
do you go to private or charter etc? Or is this just a really good public school?

Heyy little freshies.

@penngirlpending Would it surprise you that I go to a sub-par HS with a median ACT score of 23? Academically, it’s not really that good. However, there are a good number of ways to beat the system if you really want to (technically, we’re limited to 7 credits per year. Yeah… I’m not following those rules!). For example, our school doesn’t offer AP Music Theory, but a self-study with my band director will get me credit. Our school does offer ~15 APs, which is pretty good; however, it is not as good as many other good schools. Also, Dual Enrollment allows me to take higher level math/science classes at a local university. In terms of the advanced classes that I’m taking (i.e. math), I started double-accelerated in MS, and tested into triple-accelerated last year.
So yeah.

Classes for next year:

AP Euro
English Honors
Algebra 2/trig/pre calc Honors
French 3 Honors
Chemistry Honors
Chorus
Science Research

There is only one AP offered

There is no such thing as self studying more than one course per year at my school or Ap courses for freshman and only one for sophomores. This is my full around schedule. Half of the courses are required

Typical asian schedule. Heh.

Plus junior year I’m expecting to take:
AP Bio/Environmental Science (I can’t choose. Srsly)
Maybe symphonic band again

AP US History♥
Japanese 3/4
Honors American Lit [HAmLit ftw]

And senior year:
AP Statistics
Multicultural Lit
AP Economics
Biotechnology
Honors Physics
AP Japanese (eh)

^ Are you Japanese?

Everyone is so ambitious on here! I’m taking the hardest classes my school offers and it seems like nothing compared to some of you.

For the person who asked what colleges we’re thinking of: I have no idea where I want to go yet, just that I want to go out of state… the farther away from the cold, the better.

@Elainajulia I hate when people ask me what college I want to go to… When I say Stanford or some other top tier university, they’re always like “do you really think you’re as smart as XYZ, who got into Stanford last year?” How do you answer that without coming off as arrogant? Thus, these conversations end awkwardly with me saying something like “IDK, colleges are a crapshoot anyway.” And they respond, “No they’re not, XYZ who got into Stanford didn’t get into Harvard. Harvard has a lower acceptance rate. Thus, XYZ wasn’t smart enough to get into Harvard.”

Sigh.

It’s annoying because these are people with 2.5 GPAs and <21 on their ACT…

@DigitalKing‌ - I think you’re the only one who think your schedule is “sub-par” for this year. lol. I really think you’re overestimating your ability (no offense at all) with AP Chem, AP Physics, and APUSH along with 4 other APs. I don’t aim to discourage you, but the stress of these classes will.

@apandia It may be true that I’m overestimating my abilities, but grade inflation and more grade inflation will save me. If it adds to my case, I have only spent ~2 hours ALL YEAR on homework and studying outside of school (and I have a 4.0 btw). I can count the things I did at home on one hand (one bio assignment, two English assignments, and studying for one Econ test)
I may rethink my schedule for next year if my AP tests this year don’t go well…

@Incandescent
Woo, Japanese for foreign language.

@DigitalKing‌ I agree. Many people do that with Harvard & Stanford at my school. It really isn’t about grades, cause grades are like the expectation… Its about EC, personality, and essay!

I am still switching around junior and senior year… Right now it looks like this. I have no idea if i should do chem or bio junior year soooo… Anyone want to help me out?

I have already started self studying AP psych, its so easy!!!

I am a very science/math person  I wish there was an AP Arabic test cause I could do that too.

@Elainajulia‌ My school is one of those urban public schools that has two towns. The towns are considered “rich” so we have a lot of AP classes (~23). But the honors classes are **** compared to AP…

Does anyone know the issue with the new PSAT/SAT???

@livelaugh7‌ The new SAT drops some of the more difficult and obscure vocabulary, narrows the math focus, and makes writing optional. The scores will be out of 1600 again.
