Starting on my Ch.9 outline early >:D<
Good news, I received in A in AP Spanish this quarter. The problem was that I didn’t turn in work (It’s my first AP, I’m trying to balance it here).
PSAT is this Wednesday and is it necessary to prepare or…
I would prepare , I took the practice SAT/ACT from Kaplan and it was difficult.
i need to start prepping for psat on october 28th more time lool
@cxprus Congrats! Studying for the PSAT depends on who you talk to. My friend says it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t count until next year (she also scores extremely high so easy for her to say haha) I have been studing a bit just because I like getting a high score even though it doesn’t matter.
That being said, I would at least look at the new PSAT format as it is quite different just so you know what is actually going to be on it.
@cxprus You should prepare if you are registering for a college summer program.
I’m taking the practice test either today or tomorrow for the test on Wednesday, @Madeline25 @cxprus
Yeah I’ve done about half of the 1st one in the Barron’s book and plan on finishing it today. I might do the 2nd one tomorrow if I have the time/motivation. @frazzledazzle
I don’t have the Barron’s book, but my Guidance Counselor gave me the book CollegeBoard gives out about the PSAT and the PSAT/NMSQT, which has a practice test in it. The booklet also has the Student Guide, which was useful to read. @Madeline25
@frazzledazzle I got that too, but it’s actually the same test as they put up on the website. My Pre-Calc teacher already gave us the entire math section and I did at least part of the reading awhile ago. The main reason I got the book was that the same teacher is giving homework out of it. I do like it though and highly recommend it.
My pre-calc teacher didn’t do that, since most of my class is seniors (with some juniors in the mix). I’m the only sophomore. I wish we did that, though. In my Career class last Friday, we did the first section of the Critical Reading. It wasn’t helpful since that day’s class was geared more towards average students who wouldn’t do well on the test. Completely useless for me, but I’m still going to take the full practice test to get the jist of how well I’ll do on Wednesday. @Madeline25
@frazzledazzle Really? We have a special math class that meets every day (we’re on an AB day schedule) that just for sophomores and we’ve got about 20 students in it.
@Madeline25 We have the same classes every day. There are other sophomores who are in Honors Pre-Calc, but I’m the only one in Acc. Pre-Calc. The classes that students can take have people in different grades, unless they are grade specific classes, like English, PE or other ones that are grade specific for credit. For me, I have 5 out of 7 classes with different grades (WH2, APBio, Acc. Pre-Calc, Band, Hon. French 3).
@frazzledazzle Ah I see! We do too with the different grades normally, but like you say some are grade specific and this is one of ours.
How’s AP Bio? That sounds like a fun class! Don’t didnt offer anything bio related this year to us. I think I’m going to do IB Bio next year!
I’m taking the PSAT on Wednesday :S I don’t have any prep materials and I haven’t studied at all yet. It doesn’t really matter until junior year anyway, but I still wanna do well. Is it similar to the SAT? I took it in 8th grade and did kind of eh but now I’m a lot more prepared to answer those kinds of questions
@LosingCrayon Mmm it’s unfortunately in the new SAT format. {I prefer the old SAT much more.} It is also supposed to be “easier” than the regular SAT, hence why you can only score up to a 1520.
Guys halp?? Would the old SAT book by collegeboard still be useful for the new SAT? I’m lost

@praeda With the new format, no. Your should have gotten a little brown booklet with info and questions in it that’s helpful. Khan Academy and the College Board website also have good prep stuff.
I tried doing our practice PSAT test last night and I did really good on writing and english but when I got to math I totally forgot everything :/. Not really ready for tomorrow and the test but thankfully it doesn’t really matter until junior year for NMS.
Also @frazzledazzle (sorry you asked a couple days ago but I rarely check CC), I’m taking the SAT II this year because I’ll be studying for the AP exam. Why study again for it next year when I’ll be prepared for it from studying for the AP?
