Wow! I haven’t been here for awhile! 10th grade has been wild for sure. How is everyone doing?
10th grade is kicking me viciously. The quarter ends next week, and I feel so stressed about certain subjects. Everyone is cutthroat and competitive.
On a bright note, my counselor told me that I was nominated for HOBY! I’m excited for that. Is anyone going?
I finally have all A’s!!! (Euro is now 90.0%) but it probably won’t last… we just took a quiz that was wroth 60 points: 15 multiple choice questions and 1/2 of an leq…Back to a B we go…
@kelvin82 funny that you mention that! I submitted my application a week ago so hopefully I get selected but I doubt it since I have very little experience
@apple1893 For me, sophomore year has been great. I’m getting all A’s, but I feel I am not challenging myself enough this year and will hopefully be taking a couple of AP classes next year. Any suggestions? How is APUSH?
I receive my Quarter 1 report card next week! I already know my grades for most of my classes: Pre-Calc (B-), English (B), French (B), World History (A+), PE (A+), and Band (A+). All I’m waiting on is AP Biology. I probably got a B-. I didn’t have a good quarter. I hope to have all A’s this quarter!
I have A’s in all my regular classes and B’s in my AP/honors I’ll be ecstatic if I get at least 2 of my honors/AP up to an A satisfied if I get 1 of them up and pissed if my grades stay the same
@BucketsUCSC Same here. My 3 Honors/AP classes are in the B range.
@tonyk16 APUSH is known to be one of the hardest APs so you’ll definatley get a challange with that one!
Our grades finalized earlier in the week and I ended up with a 95 in Chemistry Honors, 93 in AP Physics I, 94 in French III Honors, 98 in Pre Calc Honors, 100 in Art Foundations, 95 in English III Honors, and 95 in APWH.
Overall I’m very happy with my grades. However I know I can get a high A in chemistry and French, but this quarter they have taken the back burner to other classes because they are some of my easier ones. I’m going to try to manage my time better to fix that. I really didn’t expect to have that high of a grade in math! Other than that, I like to aim to get everything else up a point or two, because you know there is always room for improvement.
Hang in there @BucketsUCSC @frazzledazzle !!! Its almost over and then you get a clean state!!
@Madeline25 Thank goodness! I’ve already received 2 100’s on quizzes in AP Bio. So far, so good!
My teacher highly recommends I take APUSH because he believes I will excel in it. But as for any other AP’s, I don’t really know what I should take.
@frazzledazzle That is great! Bio is my worst great right now. There are only a couple of people in my class that have a “high” A though.
@tonyk16 I drastically improved in the matter of a week! I went from a 55 and a 57 on tests (80’s on quizzes), to a 90 and a 98 on tests and 2 100’s on quizzes. There are some people in my class and the other AP Biology class that have high A’s (to my knowledge). I hope you improve! What are you learning right now? My class is going over enzymes.
@frazzledazzle I am taking honors biology, not AP and we are just starting on cells. We finished bio chemistry last week and I believe I did well on the the test over it, but my teacher has not graded them yet. I hear that AP bio along with most other AP sciences requires a lot of memorization. Science isn’t really my forte so I am most definitely not going taking an AP science. Maybe AP Environmental because it looks interesting. We will see.
@tonyk16 Sorry. My bad. Organic chemistry was the worst for me. I haven’t really studied much. My brain tends to absorb information. I just listened in class and watched YouTube videos my teacher recommended my class to watch. My school also has AP Environmental (I had to look it up. I thought it only had AP Bio, Chem, and Physics C)! I don’t plan on taking it, though, since I want to go into the Physical Sciences (Planetary Astronomy).
Do you have an eidetic memory??
My Algebra II teacher just makes videos and makes us watch them. That is literally how she teaches us and it is so annoying. I have a great grade in her class but I feel like this isn’t really preparing me for pre calc…
I have heard that AP Environmental is the “easy” AP science, but hey, it is worth the college credits.
I made all A's, excluding AP Computer Science. It was a huge struggle for me to pull my grade up to an 86. My teacher makes the class so hard, but I still enjoy his class. It's fun trying to argue politics with a man who thinks Donald Trump is the country's next savior and who doesn't believe in vaccines. Other than that, he's a pretty cool teacher.
My second lowest grade was in Principles of Engineering with a 93. It isn’t weighted and drags my GPA down. This class is so slow and boring because some of the kids struggle with math/physics and need extra help. It’s pretty much a study hall for me. I-)
I worked harder in AP World this grading period and made a 95! My other grades were a 98 in Pre-AP Bio, a 99 in Pre-AP English, a 96 in Pre-AP Pre-Calc, and 100s in Honors Orchestra and Honors Choir.
@Kelvin82 A counselor came in to talk to our class about HOBY. I don’t know if I want to go, since I’m applying for another program called TASS.
@Hamlon An 86% is an A?? At my school it is a B! A range is 92.5% and up!
@frazzledazzle he said excluding Computer Science xD
at my school A range is 90% and up.
@frazzledazzle Haha, that is why he said excluding…
@Hamlon An 86 is still a good grade, it is not like your failing. You can still try to make it up this quarter to an A if you need to. And why isn’t the Principles of Engineering not weighted? It sounds like an honors level class to me.
@Phantomlink Oh. My bad. My brain gets confused a lot.
@Hamlon Sorry 'bout that. An 86 is still a great grade! There’s, also, the next quarter to improve it in! Those must be great debates.
