High School Class of 2018

@cxprus IB looks really difficult … I’ll have to make my decision by February-March

@TrainerGary What is IB anyways?? Is it like AP classes because I have never heard of it before…

@tonyk16 Yes but traditionally it is more of a comprehensive program with set requirements. You can only take IB Diploma Program in 11th-12th. You have to do a certain amount of classes at a certain level, write a research paper, do community service, etc. I know next to nothing about the career program. It’s pretty new in general from what I understand and I think our school just added it this year. However, most schools will just let you take the classes without commiting to the entire program.

I’m going to do IB DP, but our school schedules them so weird I don’t really know what I’ll be able to fit in. I do know I will be taking Math HL along with the required HL History and English required at my school. It definety consisted to be more rigorous then Bio HL, which I find more interesting, and the credit transfers better (esp for pre-med) so it really just makes more sense. I’ll still take Bio (and Chem) SL then take the AP test to hopefully get credit and probably do my EE on bio, so I should get the best of both.

YAY! I was stressing over a collab for AP Psych (FLVS) when I got a text from my teacher today saying that if I called her and completed the midterm exam she’d exempt me from the collab. Of course I jumped on the opportunity and I’ve now finished segment 1 with a 93% A!

Congrats guys! 25% of the school year is officially over!! (At least for my school but we went in in early September)

My first MP could have been better but it’s okay. I got 2 B+s (88 in APUSH and 89.6 in AP Bio). An A- in Honors Lit (92.6- should’ve rounded to an A tbh). And As in my other classes. I’m hoping to finish APUSH and AP Bio with A-s by the end of the year but they’re kicking my butt ://

@Madeline25 Aah, my school doesn’t offer IB. I will stick with just a few AP’s for Junior and Senior year.

@mamaba If your implying that first quarter is over, I have surpassed that over two weeks ago now. But we have a lot of vacation days for Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Those are still fairly good grades considering they are AP classes. There are only three or four that have an A in APUSH at my school, and about five other people ended up dropping the class after the first month :confused:

@mamaba @tonyk16 I’m about 3 weeks into the 2nd Quarter. We started Sept. 1.

I think I already mentioned my Q. 1 grades. I calculated my GPA for that quarter and it was 3.43 UW, 3.86 W - a lot better than last year overall. Right now I have an A in math (less than 0.5% from an A+!!!), a B in French, an A- in English, and an A in World History. Not many teachers put grades in immediately. :confused:

@frazzledazzle @tonyk16 Yeah we started September 3rd here so our first quarter only JUST ended (technically grades aren’t finalized til friday so maybe my grades will change- hopefully for the best)

@frazzledazzle I find it annoying when teachers don’t put grades in, my Alg II teacher hasn’t put a grade in for the 2nd quarter yet. My grades are still good, but that might change as winter sports are coming around. Indoor starts the 23rd. It shall be a challenge.

@mamaba I received my report card last Thursday.

@tonyk16 I hate it! My 6th grade Social Studies teacher waited until the very latest (2 weeks) to enter grades in. There are some classes where there are no grades in yet (like participation in PE), but others where the teacher hasn’t entered grades in yet. My AP Bio teacher is new, so it’s okay for him (a little). It would be nice to know my grade.
I don’t play winter sports. 1) I’m not athletic, and 2) I do music. I manage a softball team every year, though. Winter sports try-outs and practices started this week at my school.

@frazzledazzle I’m not super athletic either, but I’m doing track because it will give me a chance to get into better shape. My coach is really good and is willing to train you so it is good. At least you do something, music is pretty interesting, but I just don’t know how to play. Wish I could have got into it.

i would do track but you have to have at least a 5.5 minute mile at my school

@BucketsUCSC Mine is like 7:15 or so, but I think I’m just going to do shot put, 100m, 200m. I guess I’m okay at sprinting, but we’ll see. Like I said, the coach is really nice so it is all good.

Today in my English 3 Honors class we did a mock trial for the girl responsible for the Salem witch trials, we charged her with manslaughter and team prosecution won! (I was a prosecutor) :smiley:

So I’m visiting Dartmouth College while on vacation next week! Do you all want me to post a review/talk about the visit at some point next week? I’m not taking a tour, just wandering. Thoughts?

@frazzledazzle Yes! I’d love to hear about it!

@frazzledazzle Yeah, you should do it. I Never been there and would like to know how it is. Good luck!

@Madeline25 @tonyk16 I definitely will, then! I’m visiting the observatory, physics/astronomy building, main library, the Green, Dartmouth Hall, and some things that my sister wants to see.

@frazzledazzle Great! Hope you have FUN!

I just got my biology grade back up because their was a couple of missing assignments from when I was out. It was at a 76% and I was hyperventilating. I’m so so glad my teacher graded those or else I probably would have given myself a heart attack.

@tonyk16 Thank you!

I had my all-state band audition today! I hope I make it in! With how I did, it could go either way. I receive my scores within the next week, and if I made it or not not long after that!
