@frazzledazzle good luck with your audition I know how nerve wracking it can be. What instrument(s) do you play?
@mamaba It was yesterday. I didn’t get too nervous because I auditioned for the band last year, too. A run-down of how it went: I played 2 of the scales perfectly and messed up on 1 of them. I had 2-3 very minor errors in the first movement of my piece (Bach’s Sonata II in E-flat major) and played the second movement perfectly. I think I did okay on the sight reading. I play the flute.
I just came back from the MIT Splash program! Probably the best weekend of my life!!!
@apple1893 How was it? What did you do there?
Crap. I just realized something.
I need 5 more credits to complete the ‘F’ (Visual Arts/Peforming) portion of my A-G’s. There isn’t any semester-only art course (expect theater B) but I guess I’m going the AP route. I don’t want to think too much about it. But oh well.
But then again, if DP is held.
Then I would do IB Visual Arts HL1 instead of AP Psychology.
Quick question for you fellow sophomores, right now I’m taking two APs (which only a few sophomores in my school are doing), and the rest honors as well as a weights class (state PE requirement). 1st quarter was alright for me with a 4.1 weighted (4.3 unweighted scale), but this quarter, being only 6 weeks, I have poor performance with mostly Bs and B+s. I am rethinking my future plans for classes and I was wondering, would it be better for me to take 2 APs next year and have mostly Bs or 1 AP with mostly As. I am looking to go to one of these schools, UIUC (In-State), Georgia Tech, or U of M Ann Arbor.
@kidfood I can’t really answer that question not knowing what AP’s they are and because I myself don’t have great exposure to the whole AP world. I have multiple friends taking AP classes so I know the ropes around it. If the only thing holding you back is the six week quarter, I would say go for two next year, but then again if that is not the only reason you may want to reconsider. Hope I helped and best of luck.
First official day of indoor track and field practice, and it kicked my butt. Then again, it was so fun. There are a lot of great, supportive people on the team. It shall truly be a great season.
@kidfood depends what they are. if it’s like bio or something i wouldnt double up but if it’s like enviro or psych or something you may as well double up
I found out a little bit ago that my gpa from freshman year last year was 2.79 unweighted 2.9 weighted. I wish i would have found this site then and taken everything more seriously. I have all above B’s so far right now and one A and so close on like 3 to an A- but I got till mid-january to fix them. Also in January I get my PSAT and PLAN test scores back which I am very anxious for.
@singingwriting It was only freshman year. Some very nice schools don’t even look at it. You have plenty of time to bring it up. I can’t wait for my PSAT scores too. :-SS
Hola
Hi. My Thanksgiving break has been incredibly unproductive as usual. How about you guys?
@raffie I actually finished a 5 page research paper wednesday night but nothing much else.
Cramming all my class/homework ):
@TrainerGary Yep that’ll be me tomorrow. Don’t feel like doing it tonight.
@TrainerGary @Madeline25 I concur with you two. But honestly, I always wait till the last minute…
@raffie Right so I had so many plans for this week and then… netflix…laziness… I-)
I’m back!!!
Vermont was AMAZING!! I love it there!
My Dartmouth visit went very well. It was Wednesday, so not many people were there and department offices were closed (I was an hour too late for the Physics/Astronomy department). Admissions was open, so I talked with a student there. He said that there were no minimum requirements that you have to have [done] in high school in order to apply, along with the fact that you should show passion in the area you wish to study there. He also said that you should apply if you want to, no matter if you think you will get in or not. Hanover is a really pretty college town and has an amazing feel to it. If you all were to visit campus, I suggest getting pizza at Everything But Anchovies on Allen St. It’s amazing!!
The campus, town, and admissions visit convinced my mom to let me apply (even though she STILL thinks I won’t get in). If you all get the chance and are interested in the school, I HIGHLY suggest visiting.
Trip related: I drove across New Hampshire and across the large bridge in Portsmouth!! I even drove through Manchester, Concord, and Portsmouth - the hardest parts of the route home. I’m proud to say that I drove on 3, 4, and 5 lane highway (I even got cut-off by a Porsche )!
@tonyk16 @TrainerGary @Madeline25 I also have to finish my homework. I put it off until today…
Ahhhh Dartmouth sounds amazing! @frazzledazzle
