@frazzledazzle Sounds like you had a great vacation. Dartmouth indeed sounds amazing (I never really knew much about it). Now that you mention it, I might consider applying there with all the good things you say about it and how it is worth it to apply even if you have not done “much” in high school… … kind of feeling like a slacker. I’m going to go look at their programs and what not. How many hours you end up driving on the trip?
@Madeline25 My sister and I (along with our mom) really enjoyed it there. If you visit, go to Everything But Anchovies. They have some of the best pizza I’ve ever had!
@tonyk16 What the student said is that all that matters is that you have passion for things that you enjoy and want to pursue - and show it. I drove for about 1 hr 30 min in New Hampshire, along with 45 min in Vermont the day before.
@tonyk16 @gormar099 Thanks for the input. I was thinking of either AP Stats or AP Comp Sci AND AP US History. This year I took AP Economics and AP European History. AP Euro I have trouble with because I am a horrific reader and the test questions are mainly based on the stimuli, so I have difficulty studying for it. AP Econ is interesting, so, I am doing OK with it only because I am restricted because of time. I think this goes for anyone but, I could probably tackle those classes if I wasn’t so burdened with my other school work.
I have been slacking off more this year than the last. I have a semester map project (75 terms, about a paragraph each and about 6 maps) due on friday and I barely even have one term.
@kidfood comp sci is, from my experience, very hit or miss. it depends on your comp sci knowledge/ability as well as your teacher. For example, at my school the average on the ap exam is like a 3, but there is still a lot of work, other people on CC I see say like “I got a 5, easiest class ever”, so I’d ask a current/former student who is on about the same level as you how it is at your school. BTW apush is about the same as euro (as in lots of writing, dbqs, stimulus etc) whereas stats is more like econ where it’s concept-driven and molds the curriculum around those terms and concepts. imo stats is definitely gonna be your cup of tea, and comp sci could be as well.
Im currently doing my hw ((:
Class of 2019 is talking smack about us not being active … smh :-@
@TrainerGary It’s not that you’re not active, it’s that you slacked off as freshmen.
Just got my first DBQ back from Ap euro dang that was hard. Most people failed.
@TrainerGary Maybe it’s because we are actually doing our school work instead of just talking about it.
@Madeline25 Preach =D>
Hi Everyone! I’m new to CC and I’m part of the Class of 2018☺!! I’ve been looking for a thread like this FOREVER! Anyways, last school year I was out of the country, and this affected my class schedule this year. Basically, I’m taking some freshmen classes as a sophomore.
Here are my classes this year:
Elective: Computer Math (Pretty much mathematical programming)
PE: Health and PE I
Science: Honors Chemistry
History: Honors World History I
Math: Algebra II
Foreign Language: Spanish I
English: Honors English 10
Unfortunately, last year kind of ruined my course scheduling for the next few years. I’ll obviously still graduate with my class. Could anyone please tell me if this is a good course load. I’d really appreciate it. I’m planning on taking 2 classes online next year.
Also, this is next year’s schedule to (I planned if out with my counselor) :
Elective: Introduction to Engineering or Principles of Engineering (Haven’t decided yet)
Extra Elective (Since we only have two years of PE, I’ll take Health and PE II online): AP Computer Science A
Science: AP Chemistry
History: US and Virginia History (I’m from Virginia)
Math: Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus)
Foreign Language: Spanish II
English: English 11
Online Classes: Health and PE II and World History II
Thanks! This is really a great thread!
Also my grades for first quarter were:
Computer Math - A
Health and PE I - A
Honors Chemistry - B
Honors World History I - B
Algebra II - A
Spanish I - A
Honors English 10 - A
An A is the highest grade you can get at my school.
@ak2018 For next year Intro to Engineering is really fun! Principles of Engineering is harder. I’ve taken Intro but not principles, but I’d recommend Intro it’s amazing.
Also see if you could take online classes over the summer to fill requirements. I’ve done that and it really frees up your options.
@ak2018
Introduction to Engineering Design is the prerequisite to Principles Of Engineering so you can’t take POE without IED, although your school may have structured the program differently.
@ak2018 idk about your school but at mine those are all sophomore classes (except spanish 1)
Thanks for taking the time to read my long post @singingwriting Would you mind giving a brief description of what you learned in Intro? It might just help with my decision. And I’m actually thinking of getting a job this summer to pay for all of the online classes which I’ll take next summer. I might also take my school’s Economics and Personal Finance class online and replace that with another class. Thanks!
@IAmNotCreativ We can at my school. Even though it is not recommended to take POE before IED, the Engineering teacher said it is possible.
@Phantomlink Only Honors World History I and Health and PE I are really meant for freshmen, the rest are really for everyone.
