Nice schedule lol. Are you doing Biology or Chemistry Olympiad?
That does sound pretty rigorous; they don’t even offer that many honors classes for freshman in my school.
Here’s my mediocre schedule:
-Spanish 2 (Goes from 1-5)
-Lit / Writing
-Algebra 2 / Trigonometry
-Biology
-PE 9
-Computer Programming JAVA
Wanted a seventh course, but of course I was one of those people who didn’t get it :(. Would have been Principles of Business.
Here are my less-than-stellar extracurriculars:
-Guitar
-Chinese
-Writing A Book (<---- Yeah, I can’t believe I put this in)
We haven’t been introduced to the clubs yet at our school, but I plan on making one as well as joining a few more.
Have any of you guys taken the practice SAT tests on either CollegeBoard or Khan? I’m interested in comparing scores. My previous score on the CollegeBoard (old) SAT was 2140 out of 2400 while my Khan (new) SAT score was 1450 out of 1600.
Welcome 19’ers! The activity can build up sophomore to senior year. But freshman year is basically 8th grade all over again (but with more action and twists) for me at least.
@Zypker124 My schedule is pretty mediocre, too. My school has block scheduling, so we only take three classes a semester.
My schedule for first semester is:
-Intro to Health Sciences & Medicine
-Honors Biology (1 block split into 3 periods)
-Honors English 1
-PE Health 1
Second Semester:
-Spanish 1 (hopefully I can switch to French)
-Honors World History
-Intro to Health Sciences & Medicine
@ElloLove You have 3 honors classes available? Except for Pre-Calculus Honors and our language classes, we don’t have any honor options available :/. On a side note, though, it doesn’t look like you have any math courses. What’s up with that?
As said before, if anyone has any practice SAT scores they can share with, that would be appreciated. My scores are stated on my previous post (post #281)
@Zypker124 Oops, I forgot to add that I’m also in Algebra 1. We actually have 4 or 5 honors available for freshman.
@ElloLove Nice. Like I said before, the only Honors classes available at my school for freshman are Pre-Calc Honors and the “language honors” (Spanish Honors, French Honors, Chinese Honors and Japanese Honors). My school centralizes the APs and Honors classes only in junior and senior year, though I have no idea why, as most of the students in my school are academically oriented and academically competitive.
The class that’s considered the most challenging in my schedule would probably be Algebra 2 / Trig, but so far it’s been pretty easy, so aside from Spanish 2 (Because I suck at Spanish), I have a very easy schedule and crave for more challenge.
You want to know the fun thing, is that in our Great Parallelogram State, high school students must have an elective focus area, meaning that we have to have three extra courses in that area. I chose three: AP, Math & Science, and Humanities. I just realized that if I can’t take Strings or German next year, I’ll have to take French or Mandarin, because I dislike history. Anybody else been in this godawful position?
AP focus is built into my schedule, I’m taking 4.5 extra science courses, and I already have one Humanities credit from seventh grade Latin in another state.
I’m gonna take PreCalc next year. Also, I’ve had so many tests this week…and I have a few more, omg.
So far it’s been smooth sailing. I feel like the rest of the semester will be very similar to what it’s been like so far…which means easyyyy
Ugh yall are so lucky. I’m like stressing myself out with homework. I started homework at 4 PM today and I finished at 7:30. It gets even worse OMG
@IrrationalPepsi I’m taking Pre-Calculus Honors too (^_^).
I’m concerned about the amount of business courses I’ll be taking, because I haven’t taken any this year and can’t take any next year, as AP Chinese and AP Computer Science will fill my electives. This only leaves the junior and senior year available, which I feel is not enough.
@Zypker124 I think two years of business is good. If you’re gonna major in business, just show interest.
Omg, I’ve not planned out my future years yet, which I probably need to do. I’m thinking about doing AP Computer Science next year without any prior programming experience. The prerequisite is only Algebra II/Math III…so, it should be possible.
I also am thinking about taking AP Psychology next year, too. But it’ll only leave me with one elective space, which I’d fill with Spanish I or something. I’m worried that I won’t be distinguishable because I’m not taking an eye-catching series of electives, like band, chorus, theater, etc.
Woo, first progress report grades out today. I’m missing one test from bio and I don’t have a grade for strings, but whatevs. Fun thing about living where I live: 12 ways to calculate GPA!

That 92 in Geometry will be the death of me.
sorry for the long boring post.
Progress reports will not be out for another 2.5 weeks lol
Hello! Class of 2019 here as well,
My schedule:
Hon Matter and Energy
Fitness(PE)
Hon English 9
Hon U.S History
Spanish 2 (No honors until Spanish 5)
Hon Geometry
Intro to Tech Design
I’m not allowed to take APs so this was the most rigorous I could get it lmao and school has started already.
All of you guys with those plethora of honors classes the school gives you (-_-). As said before, unless I take Pre-Calc Honors (which is honestly plausible for me) or a language (such as Chinese Honors), I can’t take honors or AP courses as a freshman.
@Zypker124, that sucks. You will not be held accountable for it, though.
This is directed towards whoever reads this thread: How has school been so far and what is your favorite class?
It’s been okay. My favorite classes have been APHG because it’s interesting, and Biology because we use MICROSCOPES and GRAPHS. I actually got really excited about our microscope “lab” last period… hm…
I also like my English teacher, who’s hilarious, but I’m not a fan of the “Answer textbook margin questions” model.
School has been extremely stressing -- Our school hires potential college professors to teach -- Mr. Chemistry Teacher assigned a lab within the first week --, I dislike his way of teaching, but, it is very effective. My favorite class so far… well… I can not choose. My, “A,” day is my favorite day. This involves Algebra 2, Geometry, Spanish 1, and World History - All Pre-AICE. Our progress reports comes out next week. I hope our Chemistry teacher is not like this for the rest of the year. -- Oh, Biology from last year was easy if you paid attention.
First Semester:
JROTC Army I
Algebra I
Physical Science
Audio/Video Film Tech I
Second semester is kind of fuzzy right now – I have all of my classes in place but they’ll probably be switched out for college classes by March since that’s when I’m starting college.
