@phantomhive I’m confused… are you a hs freshman taking CC courses?! Impressive!
@phantomhive, JROTC? That’s pretty cool.
@awesomepolyglot Thanks; I am! I dual enrolled at a local college via the Move on When Ready program. It’s absolutely amazing.
@IrrationalPepsi It’s a great class. There aren’t a lot of traditionally “academic” lessons taught, but the leadership & people skills I’ve learned through it are really effective and useful even just so far. It’s a course you can really apply to situations in the real world.
Haven’t posted on this thread in a while. Haven’t posted on this forums in a while either. How’s life?
@OneExcitedDude, life is great lol.
What do you guys think of high school?
@awsomepolyglot It’s been pretty good so far. Classes our fine, and cross country is going great.
None of my classes are much harder than in seventh or eighth grade, but I have a lot more homework and ECs.
Side note: I’m that annoying person who never studies and procrastinates all the time but still gets high A’s.
It’s fun. The homework has been little to virtually none.
Can someone rate my schedule? Also my school has block schedule so we only have 4 90-minute periods, and classes are either every day for a semester or every other day for a whole year. Most freshmen and seniors have 1 or 2 open periods per semester.
Fall:
A-days- B-days
H Alg2/Trig (help) H Bio
Spanish 1 Spanish 1
Frosh PE Global Studies (non-honors; history is optional for freshmen in my school but I’m taking it anyway b/c I like history)
(open :D) (open)
Spring:
A-days: B-days:
H Biology H Alg2/Trig
Eng Comp & Lit (non-honors) English Comp & Lit
Hw lab/open Global Studies
Track Track
I’m also joining a few clubs
I feel really stupid because I live in an extremely competitive district, so most of the people I know (including friends from other schools) are taking all honors classes, except for electives ofc, and I’m not in honors English or history. :-<
As if that’s not bad enough, I’m struggling in honors classes that I do take.
I barely squeaked through Geometry last year; you need an 83% average or higher and my average of my three final grades (roughly 84, 78, and 88) was 83.37%. #:-S Yes, I was the stupidest person out of 90 Geometry students.
School life has been hectic. From loud, obnoxious, and irritating class mates, to teachers. My chemistry teacher gave his students a lab within the first week of school, he then proceeded to test us on concepts that he had not fully covered :’( My Algebra 2, Geometry, World History, Spanish 1, and English Language classes are going better than great. Creative writing and Chemistry, not so much. Creative writing is easy, she just punishes the whole class for the behaviors of my classmates. -- Chemistry is another story, the lab was easy if you had wonderful partners. But, I did not -- This weekend is going to be full of homework that my teachers assigned to push our freshman limits. But hey, I love my school, I went there as an 8th grader, and it has not changed.
Haha, I have not been on this forum for a LONG time lol. School is stressful but fun… We had a lab the first week of school as well, for Bio Honors, but it was fun…
Also, we mostly use kik to chat, so if anyone wants to join our HS CLASS 19’ chat, just PM either IrrationalPepsi, or me your usernames and we’d be happy to add you.
HI! I’m the class of 2019 as well!
My schedule this year is:
Algebra 2 and Geometry
Honors/Pre-AP Biology
Honors English Language
Spanish 2
AP US Government and Politics
Honors English Literature
AP Economics (AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics)
I’m taking 3 AP tests this year :))
This year has been SO HECTIC and we are only 1/6 through.
@positivevibes lucky, I can only take APHG this year.
@positivevibes, how can you take THREE? We are not even allowed to take one AP, let alone three, in freshman year.
I mean, technically you could take AP Bio as a freshman, but I didn’t know until after course selection that I could test out of honors. Only 3-5 current sophomores have done that, though.
My school’s weird. You have your druggies, your thick-skulled popular people, your jocks, and so on, but in the sophomore class about 10% of people are like “3APSAND8ECSNOSTUDYHALLIVYLEAGUEGOGOGO!!!” and if people in my class are like that, my class rank is going to drop about 50 places because I won’t have the GPA boost from taking 3 APs. This year so far, I have a 4.5 GPA. I’m in one standard, five honors, and one AP, which will be the case next year, leaving me with a maximum GPA of 4.5. The person who looks like she’ll be Class of 2018 valedictorian is in 4 APs and 2 honors, giving her a max GPA of 4.83 for the year and a 4.74 cumulative.
See my point?
@awesomepolyglot O.o 70% of the freshmen class are like that at my school, although they still manage to have decent social lives!!! I’m one of the 30% that’s considered “stupid” because I’m not in 3+ honors classes. :((
None of the freshmen are allowed to take any APs, but in sophomore year you can take AP European History.
Sophomore is when we can start taking APs. I’m most likely the only one in the Class of 2019 at my school that will take an AP. Most sophomores that pass through the school never take an AP, even the most advanced people I can think of.
My school has it’s “cliques” but everyone intermingles…if they like each other. I am not saying there are clique rivals though, lol. We do have the sporty guys, rejects, popular group, slightly less popular but more fun girl group, etc. It does not matter if you are smart or not, you can be friends with anyone.
Lastly, my English teacher told us never to use contractions again. I am itching to use them, but I gotta avoid them Lmao.
