High School Class of 2019

@adiacs Chemistry is awesome. Lot’s of things to memorize and a bunch of rules that have exceptions, but its a lot of fun!

@Giovuhnni I think that my APUSH teacher is way easier than what I see you guys talking about. He does not give tests, just quizzes after each chapter. We also do a DBQ after each chapter to practice for the AP exam. He gives extra credit opportunities at least twice a month, so if you don’t get a great grade on a quiz, you can make it up. At the end of the class, you get a 100% on the final exam if you sit for the AP exam and you can do the Princeton Moot Court competition in the spring as your final project.

@manspeak2u Giovanni and I have the same teacher, he’s not too harsh, just a ton of homework. Unfortunately, our county does not recognize extra credit :(( btw all the tests have questions from past final AP exams, so stimulus based questions etc. We have few questions based on pure knowledge (which I find the easiest).

I have a question. I really like math, I want to get a possible carrer in either mathematics or the medical feild. Right now im in Honors Algebra 2. I want to take Pre-Calculus over the summer to get ahead and so I can fit in AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, and AP Stat. Another route is that I take Pre-Calc next year along with AP Stat which I wouldnt mind doing. What do you guys think?

@Nickarch I took Alg. II over the summer through CTY at JHU. It was extremely hard. First B on my transcript. Now I am in Pre-Calc and it is a piece of cake. Pre-Calc is basically reviewing Alg. II concepts and then adding little portions to them. That being said, I don’t know how your Alg. II class was so I guess I can’t tell. I don’t think I would want to go into AP Calc AB without being very confident in Pre-Calc concepts. Thoughts from others?

@Nickarch Personally, I wouldn’t take it over the summer just because I rather spend my summer relaxing, but at the same time, doubling up math classes for me would be really confusing. So I think it’s up to personal preference.

I’d actually like the challenge of taking two math classes. Plus we have a health class in 10th grade which takes up a semester, preventing you from taking any worthwhile classes. I think I might take that over the summer instead.

The top student in Math II and Math III is allowed to skip precalculus and jump right into AP Calculus Prep & AP Calculus AB at my school.

@collegeyouth and @manspeak2u welcome to the HS Class of 2019 thread

@collegeyouth, it really depends on what you are more interested in. AP World will cover much more widespread information, while AP Euro, is, well, you know, about European History lmao. There is somewhat of an overlap, but not a huge amount of overlap. Personally, I would take AP World

What do you guys think of my new profile picture?

Lol cells. Nice

Thanks. I figured out how to take pictures of stuff under my microscope, and I only just now figured out how to change my picture. It’s spinach under 250X magnification.

Wow. Thats awesome. I thiught it was just some picture off the internet. What kind of microscope do you have?

Um… idk it’s smaller and way better than the ones at school… has a removable eyepiece (you can only get pictures with a 25X eyepiece)… it’s blue and silver and black and white… I can tell you its serial number?

Its fine, I was just interested in possibly getting one, do you remember how much you paid for it? (so I know the price range for a good one)

The manufacturer did a crappy job of actually labeling it. It came with 25 AmScope prepared slides and a bunch of slides and slide covers made by Karter Scientific, so I’m assuming it’s an AmScope(?) Model XSP-116F Biological Microscope?

Ok thanks! i’ll look it up

I got it from “Santa” in 2013, but as far as I can tell, here it is on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/AmScope-M150C-I-40X-1000X-Biological-Microscope/dp/B00AM5XB5O/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_sims?ie=UTF8

I don’t think it includes any slides though, and it’s probably an updated version of what I got.

Scroll down to find the “frequently bought with” that has the slide kits.

Ok, thanks so much. That will most likely be my gift from “santa”, lol.
