High School Class of 2019

And I’ve missed 4 days of school lol

I’m letting my crush rope me into Winter Guard. This is probably a bad idea, but I went and told my drumline friend that I was going to the meeting, and she was ridiculously happy. Whooooo, me…

Haha lol nope they have Saturday practices too hardcore

Had a good time last night. I was at a party and it was fun.

So I just started a Coursera account and I’m mildly confused as to whether it will let me take assessments without verifying my identity.

Eh Coursera is confusing, some of the courses are free, many are not. The best you can do is spend some time on the website…

I signed up for Introduction to Astrobiology, non-certificate option.

I guess I’ll only do non-certificate on Coursera. When I get my permit, I’ll ask my parents for an EdX account for certification courses.

I am doing their Calculus one course, to me, it is like basic algebra right now… :’( but I know it will soon get harder as I progress through the course

I’m in geometry and I’m jealous of you people who are super good at math.

Eh, math and physics is love, math and physics is life  Believe it or not, I did not like math as much as I do nos. I thought math was unnecessary in day to day life. Now I see it as another language to learn, another art style to admire, another important part of my life that I will never replace.
It grows on you.

I’m sort of like that with geometry. It’s kind of inspiring how you described it. I think part of why I like geometry so much is that my teacher is a very, very real person. This post was random and reads like a turbulent flight from Dulles to JFK: It’s short, unnecessary, and is bumpy as all get out.

So are any of you taking APs? I’m self-studying macroeconomics. And sorry about the two-page paper @adiacs .

@melloswideworld Just APUSH. Only freshman AP offered at my school.

Yeah, they only offer AP American Gov for freshmen at my school, which I’m taking. Did anyone else get letters from colleges already? I got stuff from WashU and Hampden-Sydney…

I’ve been getting college letters since 6th grade (when I first took the PSAT). I usually throw them away and I don’t really remember any of the colleges names.
I’ve also gotten a lot of letters for programs like National Young Leaders Conference and other similar programs, but I also throw those away because the programs are almost never worth it.

Wow, I didn’t know you could take it that early…they still haven’t given us back our scores. I feel like NYLC would be a decent EC though, right? I’m all for anything that looks good on an application…

We made 50 pages  yay

What are the “standard ECs” for high achievers at your schools? At mine, most of the selective-college-bound freshmen are in HOSA, MUN, and/or Forensics. I’m in none of those…

IDK-Luckily there are no clear frontrunners for valedictorian or anything like that, and I’m pretty much the only person that cares about college an unhealthy amount. My main competition is my clique, and most of them aren’t in very many things yet, but I’m in FBLA, Academic Team, will do Varsity Tennis in the fall, and Newspaper as of now, and I know people on Speech & Debate, Mock Trial, and other stuff. I’m gonna try to make an Investment Club, but IDK if I can do that successfully as a freshman. Also thinking about making a blog and/or an app for financial stuff that can help me be my big boost to get into Wharton or something along the lines of that…it helps to already be well-known in your field when considering holistic admissions. What are your strats regarding ECs?
