High School Class of 2019

Haha. So we’ve covered math, what about science? Best and worst at your school?

(worst)
9th Grade
Biology Honors

10th Grade
Chem Honors

11th Grade
Physics Honors

12th Grade
Geosystems

Best

9th Grade
Biology Honors

10th Grade
AP Chem (Chem honors over the summer)
AP Bio

11th
AP Physics (you have to take Calc BC so a lot of people just take Physics Honors)

12th
Geosystems

All the classes at my school are at a minimum honors so haha my worst isn’t that bad

Worst Science Sequence Ever!

V

9th Grade:

  • No Science at all

10th Grade:

  • Biology

11th Grade:
-Physical Science

12th Grade
-Earth Science

Worst:

9th
-Earth Science

10th
-Biology

11th
-Physical Science

12th
-None (We only need three science credits)

Best:

8th
-Earth Science

9th
-Biology honors

10th
-AP Biology Preparation
-AP Biology (second semester)

11th
-Honors Chemistry
-Honors Physics

12th
-AP Chemistry Prep
-AP Chemistry
-AP Environmental Science

Tbh, you can take those in any order once you’re a sophomore, buts it seems better like this.

Best Sequence

9th Grade:
Biology Honors

10th Grade:
-Pre-IB Chemistry (Honors)
or
-AP Chemistry

11th Grade:
AP/IB Physics

12th Grade:
AP/IB Biology HL

I’m still in doubt of what to take for next year (10th) I have till June to make up my mind. I:

You’re gonna potentially take AP Chemistry without prior high school chemistry?

There’s a summer introductory course for it.

Worst science sequence:
9th- Applied Science
10th- Biology
11th- Matter and Energy OR Horticulture
12th- None

The Best Sequences

With summer courses, but without doubling up:
9th- Honors Biology
Chemistry during summer
10th- AP Biology
Physics during summer
11th- AP Chemistry
12th- DE Physics (Calculus-based)

Doubling up without summer courses:
9th- Honors Biology
Honors Chemistry
10th- AP Physics
AP Environmental Science
11th- DE Physics (Calculus-based)
AP Chemistry* or AP Biology*
12th- DE Chemistry or DE Biology
AP Chemistry* or AP Biology*

Another option for doubling up without summer courses:
9th- Honors Biology
Honors Chemistry
10th- AP Biology* or AP Chemistry*
AP Physics
11th- DE Chemistry or DE Biology
AP Chemistry* or AP Biology*
12th- DE Chemistry or DE Biology
DE Physics (Calculus-based)

*AP Bio and AP Chem are only offered as double period classes

There really aren’t any “best” or “worst” sequences unless you compare them by AP, Honors, and Regular. Bio H is just as strong as Chem H it just depends on what that person is interested in. Thats why I’m not too happy to be taking Bio H next year.

Do you guys have that one smart kid who acts smarter than they really are? I mean, he is pretty smart, but all he ever does in science is bring up higher level physics topics that you learn about in AP Physics C. We don’t care, and my teacher, who majored in geophysics, states that he’s wrong. He obviously reads Wikipedia. Lmao, so annoying. He doesn’t even get the highest on math and science tests, as I do (not being pretentious), and always talks about going to MIT. So annoying.

Lol. Never mind lol. Do any of you watch TWD? (The Walking Dead)

YES!!! I MISS BETH!! @IrrationalPepsi

No, I don’t watch TWD. I want to wait for next season to come out on Netflix.

Anyone watch How I Met Your Mother?

No, I don’t watch TWD. I want to wait for next season to come out on Netflix.

Anyone watch How I Met Your Mother?

I only saw two episodes of that show. Does anyone Rewatch the Pokemon Series?

@HSTeen I MISS BETH TOO OMG
The way she died depresses me lol. Like I’m so sad over it to this day. Haha

Edit: An acronym was starred out so I needed to change it.

I sorta watched some of the Pokemon episodes lol.

I watch it when it comes on in the mornings, (How I met your mother) but I don’t really follow it. How did he meet their mother lol?

@IrrationalPepsi I was also sad when Hershel died!

Hi! Class of 2019 here! We’re choosing our courses and getting our recommendations done this week, so I’m pretty nervous.
My schedule (hopefully) is:

Honors Geometry
Honors Biology 1
Honors English 1
Cross Country
French 2 (No honors)
Health (1st Semester, required)
World Geography (2nd Semester)

I don’t think I’ll take AP Human Geography. Frankly, I’m not interested enough in the subject and to me it would just be a waste of time. Besides that, this is almost the best schedule you can have, unless you passed a weird test in 5th grade which allowed you to be one year ahead, in which case you can take Chem Honors and Algebra 2 Honors. There’s no doubling up allowed at my school, unless you can magically convince your GC :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not close to sure about ECs just yet, but I’m interested in joining our school’s Robotics team, Key Club, French Club, and not sure what else just yet.

So we can just post schedules or whatever?
My schedule for sophomore year:
AP Euro
English II Acc
Chemistry
Algebra 2/trig acc (sigh)
Spanish II
PE

Junior plan:
AP US?

AP lit or Lang (can’t remember which order they’re in)
Honors Physics
Calc AB or Calc I and Calc II at a CC
Spanish III
Art elective (california a-g lol)

Senior plan:
AP Econ
AP lit or lang, whichever I haven’t already done
IB HL Physics
Calc BC or CC classes
AP stats
Maybe Spanish IV

Most rigorous for each year would be:
Freshman:
World History
English I Acc
Biology? I’ve heard of some kids taking Chem or physics but I’m not sure that actually puts you ahead
Algebra 2/trig acc

Kinda hard to rank languages and electives so I’ll keep it to the core classes…

Sophomore:
AP Euro or AP art history
English II Acc
AP Chem, but it’s only available if you’ve taken algebra 2/trig already, Chem otherwise
H Precalc

Junior:
APUSH
AP lit/lang
AP Calc AB
There’s not really a science track beyond chem, you can take what you want, AP classes would be most rigorous I assume
We also have IB, so IB classes are also pretty rigorous

Senior:
Basically just take IB and AP classes, there’s too much variation to list them at this point lol
