High School Classes

I was wondering if my freshman year schedule is academically strong. I am interested in some extremely competitive colleges, and I want to make sure the classes I choose are beneficial and will look good on transcripts. Is there any advice you have regarding my schedule and/or any adjustments that should be made?

Note: APs are not available to freshman, and honors are only offered in the 5 core subjects.

Honors Modern World History
Honors Algebra II (took Algebra 1 H & Geometry H in middle school)
Honors English 9
Honors Biology (I got recommended to skip Physical Science)
Honors Spanish II
Accounting 1
Orchestra
Introduction to Business

Also, should I take Modern World History over the summer and just take United States History Honors (which is generally taken in 10th grade) freshman year? Or would it be more beneficial to wait a year so that I could take it as an AP? I was considering taking it over the summer so I would have room in my schedule to take both AP Psychology and AP European History.

What are you even asking? You are taking the most difficult course load offered to you so there is nothing else you can do.

If you have time than sure, that would be a good time to take it over the summer. Just remember that having the most challenging course load is important to colleges, but by taking one class over the other or by taking 4 instead of 5 AP classes, or even 3 instead of 5 AP classes will not matter, even in very selective college admissions.

I’m not sure if you have started, but instead of deciding if you want to be 1 year ahead in social studies, start laying out which extracurricular activities you want to pursue in high school.Start thinking about internships, and joining clubs early so that you can get leadership positions. Getting good grades in challenging classes is only 1/3 of admissions. Test scores and extra curricular are the deciding factors for getting you into " extremely competitive colleges".

Just remember that taking one class over the other, as long as you have a challenging course load to begin with, wont matter in the long run and does not matter at all.
