High School Honors Science Program at Michigan State ( HSHSP )

honestly I am not that familiar with WTP, i applied to HSHSP and a couple others but not WTP. i was really hoping to get into HSHSP though, it sounds like a great opportunity

StudiousMaximus: i saw that you PMed me, however i have not been a member long enough to reply to your message, however my acceptance email read “Congratulations, ------! Please see attached acceptance letter for this summer’s MSU HSHSP. Please e-mail me to confirm receipt of this communication; I look forward to hearing from you soon.”

Not to be mean mathgirl, but now anyone could use that information to get into the Facebook group if they really wanted to.

also, you can take a screenshot of the email.

@lacrossegirl lol. Where do you think you’ll end up attending?

And which ones are you choosing from?

@mathgirl, can you please post your stats ? Are you from CA?

lacrossegirl, you are incorrect. I had to delete about 4 trolls who tried to get in (thankfully I had the roster, so no harm done).

Also, college groups get a pretty solid number of trolls. You’d be surprised that some people really have no lives.

Also, there are better ways to check, although I’d just wait for the rosters to be honest.

I received my acceptance letter on April 17th

Can you please post yours stats including the state you are from and category you applied for?

@biovball which program are you going to attend.
I also got accepted to garcia and hshsp and can’t decide!
kinda sucks how the garcia deadline is today…

@birdseatworms HSHSP! Come to this program we have an amazing group! Sure Garcia is good for Intel but so is HSHSP and it’s going to be so much more fun!

Why is it impossible?

i really like how hshsp is a smaller group, i feel like the research quality will be better, especially since projects are individual…
also i’m traveling to regionals for soccer and attending garcia will allow me to go to soccer, but i think i actually like hshsp more… such hard decisions!
aren’t you pretty serious about volleyball ? are you just going to skip all summer traveling this year to do research ?

@biovball i can’t pm cause i just joined… i would like to hear your reasons for choosing hshsp over garcia…but the link you sent me just sends me to my own newsfeed…?

What is the cost difference? That is hugely important in my opinion.

Volleyball is a pretty big part of my life, but this season hasn’t been the best since our new coach sucks and I kinda just want a break from it :P

@birdseatworms,
Perhaps this opinion will receive lots of disapproval in this thread, but I would go to Garcia! The Stony Brook programs are definitely very well organized (Simons and Garcia) and generally more well known, not to mention cheaper than HSHSP. I have quite a few friends (all quirky geniuses, nicest people ever) who attended Garcia and had an amazing time, in addition to receiving outstanding rec letters from the professors, which played substantial roles in getting them into some amazing schools (Stanford, MIT, Princeton, etc). Of course, I have another friend who attended HSHSP, and he said it was a great experience as well - can’t really go wrong with either decision, but I’d personally recommend Garcia.

@redocean
thanks thats really helpful… i just want to do good quality research this summer… do you think garcia will provide enough individual attention? i feel like theres so many kids there… also did any of your friends win any competitions or anything? most of the work at garcia is partnered so will it be difficult to split up to enter into individual competitions?
@biovball
i think garcia will total to about 500 more for me… the room and boarding is expensive!
and breaks from sports are always good once in a while! do you think youll be playing vball in college?

@birdseatworms I plan to, probably walk-on though. What about you for soccer? I hope you choose SSP :slight_smile: Garcia is great too of course. Can’t go wrong with either!
