HSHSP & YSP-UC Davis

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has applied either to the High School Honors Science Program at Michigan State or the Young Scholars Program at University of California this summer? If you have applied and have gotten a reply, what is you admissions status?

I applied to YSP (Almost applied to Michigan too, but didn't have time before deadline) I haven't heard anything yet. Have you?

I applied to HSHSP and they haven't sent me a confirmation email yet...

I applied to HSHSP and got in (by email) 0.o
i didn't think i would since my essays sucked and everything else sucked too
How selective is this?

Hey Narcissa, when did you actually send in your application and about how long after did they send you their decision?

i sent my app like 2 months ago, and got the email now

I didn't apply anywhere else. I was running around at the last minute just trying to get this application in.

I was wondering how many applied, too. It must be at least 97, because 40 got in and 57 were waitlisted. I don't know if that's everyone, or if there are more, and, if so, how many more.

actually, i think there were over 550 participants..if you look at the registration numbers they range from 8001 to 8551 i think =O

Oh, wow! That's a lot!

Wait... do we know that the registration numbers are in order? Or better yet, did anyone not get in? I know there are some waitlisted, but what about rejections? I just interested to know how selective it exactly is.

ysp :]

yass, there were rejections. more than the people listed applied.

hmm like i said in the post above, i'm pretty sure there were 550+ people who applied, since the registration numbers range from 8001 to 8551. so pretty selective i guess? =] haha numbers have been going up a lot recently.

are all of you guys going to attend (forizzlejdl, narcissa)? too bad no one else is replying to this thread x.x haha. by the way are any of you sophomores? i'm a lil worried since i haven't taken high school bio yet..just physics and chem. thanks!

I'm attending, for sure. I'm a junior, but I havn't had physics yet. They can see what courses you've taken, so I'm sure they'll give you an appropriate lab placement.

I'm pretty sure I'm attending too. But it all depends on family and stuff. So guys start posting some of your stats if you like. Mine is somewhere in the above posts. It would be a good way to see where we all come from and what our backgrounds are.

i got waitlisted at ysp T_T
