Well, I’ve cleared my inbox. Thanks, laxgirl!

@birdseatworms
They seem to have gotten very personalized letters or rec, so I assume that there was no problem with attention! As for competitions, they have all gotten to at least Siemens semi-finalist level… our school is too talented for the mortals to handle ;(

@lacrossegirl123
which program did you choose ?

wow it seems like everyone has received acceptance emails… maybe I should just expect rejection now :(

same. Since I read posts mentioning “rosters” and there is a good number of acceptances just here, I am expecting the rejections to be sent out in a few days… Well, I had a good run, and this was the only app that I actually got to send without anyone else tampering with it, so I’m proud of that. Congratz to the acceptances, do your best for all the people that got rejected, as well. glhf

Ugh guys help me!!!
So my parents pretty much told me today that they want me to pay for it all myself (even though they easily make enough to afford it). I would normally accept this, but I have no idea how I can earn $4000 in less than two months… how can I convince them it is worth it to them?

^show them that you’re working really hard, earn some money, and then convince them to pay for the rest

@tehloffloes That’s probably what I’m going to do. I’m going to our schools college and career center director to get some more help too.

Honestly I picked HSHSP without even knowing about my acceptances/rejections from other programs because I think they are giving students a really unique opportunity, this group of students is about the smallest you’re going to get out of any of the programs. And due to that participants are going to know their mentors and the director a lot more personally by the end.

and hey @biovball just explain to your parents that if they think about it the cost of the program is fairly cheap. I mean room and board for seven weeks is less then $80 per day.

“Impregnate me” lol guys don’t worry I know all the hidden spots for HSHSPers…

Accepted:) No worries to the people who didn’t get in yet, she’s sending out emails in waves

Stats, please

@biovball Hey, can you pm me a link to the facebook group? I can’t respond to your message because I just joined I don’t know why the group isn’t showing up when I search it

which state ? which category did you apply for ?

To all past participants: what did you do on the weekends? Were there group activities planned? Do you have freedom do go off campus? I ask because I have relatives in Ann Arbor and they really wanted to see me when I told them I was going with this program.

@biovball, i’m having the same problem… send me a link to your fb so I can join the group

Weekends we pretty much did whatever we wanted. Most of our labs weren’t open, and there were never many formally organized activities. I spent some of my weekends reading papers and such for lab and the rest just hanging out with the rest of HSHSP somewhere in MSU. They’re such awesome people!

Visiting Ann Arbor is definitely possible. There’s a Greyhound that runs from East Lansing to Ann Arbor, and while it’s not cheap, it’s not expensive either. A bunch of us actually spent an afternoon at the University of Michigan one weekend.

@quantumbyte I’m in Michigan. I put down genetics.
