High School Honors Science Program at Michigan State ( HSHSP )

Has anybody received anything?

No…

Do you think they will be able to send decisions today? My dad was telling me he strongly feels they would be able to finish today. LOL Who knows?

I emailed Dr. Richmond two days ago and they said by Friday for sure.

I emailed her on Monday. She said I would receive in next 48 hours. HOwever it is already 2*48 hours.

Do you think they’ll get back to us this weekend or wait until the week?

@DYSmom I picked microbiology and molecular biology

Probably wait until the week. This is very disappointing.

So do I @CyCyCyCy.

Fingers crossed for today

Accepted, good luck to all of those still waiting

Bingolover, were you an alternate, or were you straight accepted?

How selective is this program? How selective is it to be named an alternate?

^~10% acceptance rate.

I was an alternate

About what percentage are given alternate status? A lot/a little?

Has anyone not yet heard back from HSHSP?

The program has already been filled with 28 participants, according to the roster the director sent out.

It’s currently week four of HSHSP, and we’re all having a blast. If anyone’s curious, here’s a breakdown of the locations of current HSHSPers:

7: Michigan
3: California, New York
2: Illinois, Florida, Texas, Indiana
1: Virginia, North Dakota, Iowa, Hawaii, Arizona, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Puerto Rico

This is the first year that 30 participants were selected (usually 24-26 are chosen). Around 300 applied, so the acceptance rate was right around 10% (I imagine it will be the same or lower in future years.).

I highly recommend the program for students seriously interested in scientific research. Best of luck to next year’s applicants!

^what that guy said ;)
