High School Honors Science Program at Michigan State ( HSHSP )

Haha yeah that’s why I tried to a bit ambiguous when I posted stats

now that i look back on my essays, i realize that my essays suck… like forreal

Yeah, same. Oh well, there’s nothing I can do now!

Yeah mine were ok, but I don’t really know how they compare to other people’s essays so I guess I don’t know how good they are. @jonthom99‌ you had great stats so if your essays weren’t too bad you have a good chance too.

Are they only sending out rejection letters now?

i think so? not really sure

just in case someone who got accepted wanders across the thread, are the lab placements emailed with acceptances? it’s possible they’re just waiting for lab confirmations…if you were rejected, it might not be because of stats, but simply because the labs had nothing that fell under your listed choices

What are your backup plans, anyone who applied?

I’ve applied to BU RISE, and there are a few more summer research programs, but after HSHSP, my choices are pretty limited lol…

If you haven’t received a rejection letter yet, what does that mean? Does it mean you’ve been accepted, or that you made it past the first round of cuts?

we made it past the first yournd of cuts

lol wow look at the spelling

sorry for disgracing this forum with my bad english due to multitasking…

@UMTYMP2015‌ You can edit your own text after it is posted

@ParentOfUtahBoy Not an hour later, like he tried to do…which kinda sucks

Ugh, scared because my SAT score definitely isn’t great
I have 8AP tests (7 5s and 1 4) but I didn’t send them in for some reason. stupid me.

in that rejection email posted they said that
approximately 24 positions out of 300+ applicants.

Those odds, even when assuming a minimum number of applicants, leaves us with an 8% acceptance rate from an already self selecting group…

And that’s the highest chance, due to 300+ applicants lol.

Anyways, don’t feel bad if you don’t get it - its a crapshoot, in a way… Many of the best won’t get in, even the perfect scorers with 4.0 GPA.

So do we know about when results will come in? Do we get them via email or regular mail?

Probably via email, and they said all decisions will be released before May 1…

In the application, I did not include any of my mathematical accomplishments or experience. I only talked of my science-related accomplishments/experience in the essay when I was trying to explain why I would be qualified for HSHSP. I didn’t see where I could have added math experience. But now, after reading your posts, I realize I could have added it in the anything else information portion.

So, do you guys think I should e-mail Dr. Richmond to update? I mean, I don’t plan to do any project related to math and I believe HSHSP doesn’t have that many either. But, I happen to be sort of good at math and have accomplishments that could differentiate me in the applicant pool.

What were your mathematical accomplishments?
I feel like if you only got a good score like >100 on the AMC, then Dr. Richmond will not really care much, since this is a science camp at heart.
BUT, if you are like a USAMO and MOP person, then it is really important and you should send it, as that shows dedication to a subject.
