High School path and BYU independent study course advice?

Hi, I’m currently taking Honors Algebra 2, Honors geometry, and Honors trigonometry as a freshman in high school.
The typical sequence for math at my school is
Algebra1>HonorsGeometry>HonorsAlgebra2 w/2nd semester Trigonometry>IB Precalc>AP Calc AB or BC
OR Algebra1>HonorsGeometryIB precalc w/2nd semester Trigonometry>AP Calc BC

I want to be on this path: My3MathClasses>AP Calc BC> Honors Calculus 3>AP Statistics

I’ve already spoken with the math department coordinator who also happens to be the AP calculus BC teacher about this and I would have to take the IB Precalculus (no honors precalculus at my school anymore, just IB precalc which is open to non-ib students) final exam either the end of this year or the beginning of the next school year and pass it to be placed in AP Calculus BC. I’ve also talked to my counselor and decided to take trig (which I am currently in 2nd sem trig) and the BYU independent study precalculus course online to learn the material for the IB precalc exam i would have to eventually take.
I’m already enrolled in the online precalc course (costs $175) and apparently upon completion byu will send a copy of the transcript to my high school to add the course on my high school transcript as completed with the grade. The thing is that BYU has a 60day refund policy where if you don’t like the course for some reason you can withdraw within 60 days of registration and get a refund. My question is would it be wise to withdraw before the withdrawal deadline after learning all the material the course has to offer without taking the BYU final exam to keep my money and also have the material learned for the ib precalc exam i’ll have to take at my school? Even though it will be added to my transcript, I will have to pass the ib precalc exam that the math department gives me so why not save a little money and still learn the material. The deadline for withdrawing from the course is 2/25/18 and I’m more than halfway done with the course and think i can finish before the withdrawal deadline. Is this legal? maybe this isn’t the right place to ask but i don’t know where else to post.

Please share your thoughts and advice to help me. In the meantime I’ll continue with the online course.
thanksssss!!

I always thought teenagers liked doing fun stuff and hanging out at pizza joints with friends  My advice, you’re way overthinking this. Go hang out with your friends…just don’t set anything on fire.

First did your school approve of you taking BYU precalculus for high school credit? Just taking a course on your own does not mean a school will give credit for it and/or put it on your transcript. Are there IB study guides that may focus on how IB precalculus is taught? Why are you rushing through math just to end with a math that many people take to avoid Calculus or as an elective to go with Calculus? I agree with using time for fun.

It seems unethical to use the entire course, then withdraw to avoid paying the fee.

@momtogirls2 I have confirmed that it would be put onto my transcript because my counselor is the one who told me about BYU and how it works. I’m going through calculus and statistics because I want to take those classes early and have the chance to not take them in college. Majoring in Physics and possibly math.

Hey! I actually have a question about BYU independent study program also. I am looking into taking AP Bio for my major. You said that your counselor said it will be on your transcript, but also with the grade, what do you mean by that? As in the grade will count towards your GPA and count as another class?
