High school scheduling problem

Hi. I am a junior who would like to take AP English 4 at my school next year. However, the school has a scheduling conflict and cannot fit it into my schedule. I’ll have to take the standard English 4 class.

The thing is, I don’t really want to. I’ve taken nearly all the APs in my high school, and I have a 4.3 GPA (basically straight As throughout high school). I know I’m going to find the regular English class really boring.

Should I take AP English 4 online? Can I take a 200 level college class as a substitute? What is the best course of action?

There’s got to be a way to take AP English, but it’s going to involve changing some of your other requests. It’s not about this one class, it’s about the conflict it causes with another class you’ve already chosen.

So prioritize, and go back to your administration willing to give up some other classes for the ones you want most.

You could take AP Lit on FLVS. You could also take english classes at your local CC

BJkmom: I know, but then I’d have to lose some other APs which I don’t want to do.

Thanks, I am looking into this, Bobbybob

Are there any other AP language arts classes at your school that you could take? If not, and if AP Lit (what I am assuming you meant) can not fit into your current schedule, you either rearrange your schedule, or maybe take an English class at a local community college. If either of those don’t work out, you will probably just have to take regular language. I really don’t think it would hurt you, especially if you have other AP classes and a 4.3 GPA

Part of becoming an adult is realizing that sometimes you have to adapt to the system, instead of expecting the rest of the world to adapt to you.

In other words, “You can’t always get what you want.”

Again, prioritize what you want, and make an appointment with your guidance counselor to fit in as many of your priorities as is possible within the framework of the classes you school offers.

Part of becoming an adult is learning to respond to inquiries with compassion and kindness. Is this something you’ve focused on? From your response, it doesn’t appear so. Good luck on your college journey, bjkmom.

You can’t antagonize people trying to help you, kid.

@yongxiu lol from her username I don’t think @bjkmom is on her college journey.

At our school you had to be in one concurrent class on campus then you could do a second one online. They may let you do a concurrent college class online though for that hour. Check how it affects your GPA. Are you going for valedictorian? Will not having the weighted AP class affect your GPA? Just something to consider. Good luck!

Yes, it will affect my GPA of course, but I am not trying for valedictorian. Thank you 3kids.
