Oh good! :)

Congrats!

You D should be invited to Capstone Honors Day, but only 1 parent can attend with the student (space issues).

You have been on campus before, right?

Yes, we were there last spring and were very impressed. But before she makes the final decision, I think another visit would be helpful. Plus, we drove down from PA then, but we should get an idea what the logistics of getting there by air will be.

S received his acceptance letter and invitation to apply to University Fellows Experience (is that same as Honors?).

From what I can tell, there are four different Honors programs. University Honors, International Honors, Computer Based Honors, and University Fellows Experience. They all have a different focus – the Computer Based and University Fellows are competitive and limited to about 40 for Computer Based and 8-10 for University Fellows. My take is that Computer Based is more research oriented and University Fellows leans towards service, but also has research aspects. The website explains them fairly well, although the application process and decision process isn’t quite as clear.

With Computer-Based Honors, about 50-55 students are selected to attend the finalist weekend in February. From that, 40 students are offered spots in the upcoming fall’s class. As for Fellows, about 20 to 25 are selected on a yearly based, with 8 to 10 receiving the elite scholarship. Again, Fellows finalist weekend is in February.

Here’s a CC link where we give more info about the Honors College and the 4 very different programs.

I believe that you must apply to UHP if you also want to apply to UFE and/or CBHP.

You aren’t limited to how many honors programs you can apply to. And, if selected, you can belong to both CBHP and UFE.

Does University of Alabama e-mail acceptance letters? My daughter received something that seemed like it was an acceptance letter, but I’m not 100% sure that it is.

I haven’t heard that Bama emails acceptance letters.

When did your D apply?

What did the email say and who was it from?

If you want to check to see if your D has been accepted…

Log on to mybama

click on academics tab

scroll down to Admitted students

see if the hyperlink works for making the deposit.

If the link works, she’s accepted.

I know this is a really old forum, but I was wondering if any of you could describe what type of package your acceptance letter came in? Was it a regular envelope or a big packet? Thanks!

Both…

First comes the small envelope with the acceptance letter. Then comes the big envelope with a large certificate of acceptance.

Are you applying?

Yes I’ve already applied for Fall 2012.

When you get your acceptances for Fall 2012, please start a new thread so we can keep up with the news.

Will do! Hopefully it won’t be too much longer!

Good Luck!!
