Highest ACT Jump?

No problem man :slight_smile: Good luck!

I meant to post this link too. If you go over every problem, you will have seen just about every type of math problem ACT will throw at you. (Click on a date, then once you’re at the problem, right click and press play. The dude who goes over the problems is really helpful.)

depostition-I see your location is U of I 2015. What college are you accepted in there? Engineering? Business? Do you live in Illinois or out of state? I am a junior and that is one of my top schools but I am out of state…wondering what I need to get in…obv you got a 32 on your ACT!

from 23 spring of sophomore year to 30 fall of senior year
E: 34
M: 33
R: 29
S: 31
these are all the best ones from multiple times, making my best combined ACT a 32.

I got accepted to the College on Engineering and I am in-state. If you want to get in to engineering, I would say that you would need a 30 to give yourself a really good shot, though you could probably get in with a couple of points lower if the rest of your application is spotless. Engineering has a pretty high admission rate (around 65%?), mostly due to the fact that it is self-selecting, meaning only people with good stats even apply. Business has a much lower admission rate (around 50% I think), due to the fact that people with good and bad stats alike apply.

If your goal is just to get in to the University, a 23 or 24 minimum should at least get you into the Division of General Studies (which you are automatically considered for if you don’t get in to the major of choice) assuming the rest of your app is solid. My best friend got into Kinesiology with a 25 and a 3.7 GPA and somewhat shaky EC’s. It’s really only difficult to get into the Business and Engineering colleges.

Thanks! I took the April ACT and hoping I got in the 30’s to give myself a shot at the Business school. I have a 3.7 GPA a really good EC’s so I hope a good essay and the fact that I am a legacy might help. I did hear that they look at the whole application for business since they don’t take as many apps…not many kids apply from my school since it so far away. Often you are competing against kids at your own school to get in. A lot of kids apply to WI and MI from my school but not many apply to IL since it is hard to get to.
Thanks for your reply.

I took my first practice test in june 2010(after 10th grade) i got a 19, dont have the practice tests with me so i dont know what i got on each subsection. Took it 8 months later in my junior year and got a 22. Took the real act for the first time in april, currently awaiting my scores

Basically i did not practice much at all, just had a really good english teacher my junior year, thats it. While i await my april ACT scores, i am currebtly practicing to take the real ACT again in september

idk if this counts, but on my first practice test I got a 26…my act was 3 weeks away…so i took 24 practice tests in that time, and raised my score into the 35 range. (barrons’ 36 and kaplan). but yeha, i ended up gettinga 34, so, if u study, u can definitely do it

wow 24 practice tests. What tests were they?

You mean you took 24 full practice tests or you took 6 English, 6 math, 6 science and 6 reading? Still…that is a lot to do for 3 weeks !!!

@RowlandCloud
I really just winged it. I felt like taking it once to get to know the test helped. Hopefully with prep I’ll go up

Got my scores back today, i saw them through a college application… went up 3 full points from Feb. Got a 29.0! not bad for never taking an honors class! praise the red book!

7th grade- 16
11th grade- 24

anyone else?

Went from a 23 in October to a 26 in April.

October, 2010 –> April, 2011
English: 27 –> 29
Math: 20 –> 23
Reading: 24 –> 26
Science: 19 –> 25

29 february to 33 april

30 in October to a 34 in April.

English: 33 -> 35
Math: 33 -> 36
Reading: 27 -> 32
Science: 26 -> 32

To improve:
English-practice makes perfect
Math-some tests have much more challenging problems than others
Reading-my issue was the timing (practice here helped a lot)
Science-think of the test as matching, not science, and don’t spend too much time on any problem. Also don’t read the intro sections.

26 in December to 30 in April

English: 28 -> 34
Math: 25 -> 30
Reading: 27 -> 30
Science: 24 -> 25

bumppppppppp

Why Do you feel the need to continually bump this thread? Let it run its path, jeeeeez
