Hi,

Does anyone know any great hispanic scholarships?

Thank you.

Hispanic scholarship fund and hispanic college fund are great. The congressional hispanic caucus also does one but that is extremely competitive and the deadline has already passed.

This is for the class of 2010.

Thank you!

There are tons of them! The Hispanic Scholarship Fund which funds not only the Gates Millenium (which is absolutely the most awesome scholarship ever) but others as well- the Hispanic Heritage Awards which includes sponosrs like Dr. Pepper and Mastercard. Jackie Robinson... so many. Due a search with just those word "scholarships for Hispanics" and you will find many. Good luck and good planning!

If you manage to win the national award of the Hispanic Heritage Youth then props to you. Also, the HSF and Gates are mainly finAID based whereas HHY is solely merit based.

I wouldnt say HSF and Gates are MAINLY based on FInAid - but it is a criteria - as all of them have criteria. If youre implying thats why those who were awarded it, got it - then thats not entirely true. I was awarded it - have 108.6 average - top 1% of 976 students -and have volunteered all my life everywhere....Over 65,000 applicants ...I think its pretty awesome.

By the way seven nights - I too won the Coca Cola Scholars

Seven nights - my bad. I didnt mean to come across as angry. Its just been crazy. I started applying for scholarships back in August - 27 of them to be exact - 45 essays later, I have won two. Happened to be the best two (Gates and Coke) - but Im getting a lot of flack now from other students. They act like I just "wished" for these--when in fact, Ive busted my butt for 12 years and worked hard on the applications this year while everyone else was running around. Even tried to encourage the other kids to fill out applications also - but they chose not to. Had an adminstration that was "too busy" to even give me my transcripts without complaining. Now people are saying I won because of my name? What the heck? Anyway - my apologies.

Oh the irony. I applied for many scholarships around 10 or so. I wound up losing what I thought would be the shoo-ins and winning the hardest ones. I ended up winning a full ride plus benefits at a great public school, the Coca Cola Scholars (and having an amazing weekend in Atlanta), the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards (hopefully I'll win the National award. Crossing my fingers), and being a semifinalist for the Toyota Community Scholars.
