History

Hello. I've been lurking around for a while and just signed up now.

I was wondering - how would MIT look upon a C+ or B- in AP History? I don't like History very much, and I kind of slacked off in the first marking couple of marking periods in it. Everything else is fine, though. Also, would getting a 5 on the AP History exam kind of "make up" for it? I show great dedication in math and science, it's just History that dragged me down. I'm a sophomore, by the way.

Thanks.

The admissions department does not like to see C's. Make sure you get at least a B-. 5's are always good :)

Do the admissions folks take into account that some of us just aren't foreign language people? I mean, I use to have all A's in french, but it's got to the level where I can make a B. I mean, I am not complaining, because my skills aren't that great, but still, will A B in french hurt one?
I am a sophomore too BTW.

I never had above a 93 in french (which my schools considers an A) and I got into MIT....

yeah but I'm a loser, so make sure you get all A's!!!!

B in foreign language is fine; I had a B+ in English junior year and I only took foreign language for the first two years

Also, does MIT appreciate someone who pushes their curriculum past what it's supposed to be? And do they like someone who takes 4 sciences (I love science)?

this is just a wild guess, but I'd say YES

I got a C in World History, but a 5 on the AP test and I was still accepted. A lot of my grades sucked actually; I am not sure how I got in.
