Hmmm

I'm a senior in highschool and so far I got denied but the colleges I applied to so far so it looks like I'm going to community college. I live in Pennsylvannia and a lot of my friends who graduated in my high school last year go to this community college. They are all getting the classes they need to transfer or whatever they want to do. Why do my parents tell me community college is the worst thing in the world? Is it because I might not get classes? Even if I can't get classes at the campus, I can always take them online. What's the big deal about going to community college? Sure I made some bad grades in high school but community college is my chance to fix does mistakes. I have matured whats wrong with being positive?

absolutely nothing.

parents, and the general population aside from CC students, stereotype CC to be a place where failures go, continue to fail, and repeat.

you just have to show ur parents that CC is NOT that kind of deal and that many CC students transfer to top universities while saving a grip of money. but on the other hand, many parents feel embarrassed when their child goes to a CC because they have nothing to brag about, and when asked, they may feel ashamed because their friends children are already going to top universities while their child is still at a CC with a CHANCE of getting into a top university.

so both you and your parents should give/take a bit and understand both sides.
but as far as i know, ive only had positive experiences from going to a CC. aside from parking.

Thanks Dainese. You are very helpful in the community college forum and I’m sure many other people appreciate your advice. I think my parents are so worried that I wont get any classes, Im guessing. I dont even know what I want to major in so any college classes are fine with me as long as they will help me to get to a university. I mean even if some classes are full, Cant you take them online? The community college I might attend offers full associates degrees online.
