How do you enroll in and hold classes for friends to enroll in later? I have really early enrollment and want to do someone a favor.

I did this once. I signed up for the course. When my friend needed to sign up, I called him up and coordinated it. As soon as I dropped it, I told him to add it. All done in less than 5 seconds to ensure he got the open spot.

So it doesn’t matter if there’s a waitlist?

Yes, the waitlist matters, they will be bumped up first and your friend will be added to the bottom of the list.

What are the criteria for the classes that can be held? In other words, what does URSA check for when you enroll in classes? I’m guessing URSA checks for requisite courses and advancement in a series, but not for repeats.

Example: If my friend has taken Physics 6A, 6B, and 6C, he cannot hold 6B for me because URSA will say that he already has credit for 6C and cannot enroll in a class that 6C required. However, he can hold 6C for someone else because URSA doesn’t check for repeated class.

If that’s not correct, please explain the logistics behind holding classes.
