We can add Pomona college now, I was accepted two days ago, and am ecstatic :)

Congrats, Lolcats! I'm trying to remember if Pomona is one of the ones that wanted 5 SAT IIs from homeschoolers, or maybe it was 4 or 5 LORs (?)
You certainly have some great schools to choose from.
I hope all of the homeschoolers post which college they decide to attend.

Congratulations, lolcats4. I've heard that Pomona makes it difficult for homeschooling applicants. Did you have a tough time?

Congrats lolcats4! I'm glad a homeschooler made headway there.

Pomona was my son's one rejection although it may have been somewhat of a reach. At any rate, he's not disappointed with his other options.

Cardinal Fang--Yes, Pomona required 4 SAT II scores from homeschoolers--but they stated they would use other test results, like AP scores, in lieu of SAT II's upon approval. Son had only three SAT II scores, but a bunch of AP scores in other subjects. I don't know if this was a problem with his application or not. They never said anything about what he submitted, other than letting us know when the application was complete. Unrelated to homeschooling, I do think it was a problem that son did not request his interview in time. He didn't decide to apply to Pomona until late in the game, and perhaps they viewed the timing of his interview request as a lack of interest. Who knows? I also have heard/read that Pomona is not as open to homeschoolers as other institutions with similar rankings, but based on our very neutral experience, I have no evidence to support that.

I didn't have any trouble with Pomona, although I did take 4 SATIIs and sent in an extra LOR. They were quite prompt in answering all my e-mails, more so than any other school I applied to.

I also applied well after the interview deadline as well (in fact a couple minutes after their deadline because I didn't realize Common App was on EST) so I don't think they matter much.

You can also add Marlboro College, Mount Holyoke College, and Villanova University to the list :-)

and Georgetown, haha. I was accepted to their School of Foreign Service. I heard Georgetown doesn't like homeschoolers but I guess that's not necessarily true.

Now I really have no idea where to go.

My son was accepted to Rice as a freshman Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance!

Congratulations, turner! Will you and your son go to Owl Days? We're going for at least part of the time.

Updating the list....

My son got waitlisted at Harvard also. I hope you aren't too bummed out- you have some great choices.
