Homeschoolers from Class of 2018: Where are you headed?

I’d love to hear about acceptances and final college choices from this year’s homeschoolers!

Accepted: Hawaii Pacific Uiversity with merit, West Florida with merit, Nova Southeastern with a lot of merit, and Texas A&M Galveston (TAMUG) with some merit but it is an in-state school. Marine Bio major. Hoping to hear about more merit aid from TAMUG soon, was a finalist for the Levy scholarship. Decided on TAMUG. She’s going to be a Sea Aggie! She only wanted coastal schools and got in everywhere she applied. Homeschooler since 3rd grade, mostly dual credit senior year.

My son is not on CC. He was accepted to Franciscan University of Steubenville, Furman, College of Charleston, and deferred to 2019 Georgia Tech. He’s attending Franciscan.

Homeschooled since kindergarten and headed to Cornell! It was a hard choice because I received a lot of good offers.

@SuperGymnast_04, that’s great! Would you care to share where else you were considering and how you chose Cornell?

@apraxiamom, those are some great choices! Curious how you decided on Franciscan and if you considered Ga Tech for 2019 at all.

Congratulations, @texasblue!

@sbjdorlo : my son wanted the conservative and spiritual atmosphere of Franciscan. Thanks!

D home schooled from K-12. Headed to Berea College. She couldn’t be happier.

@sbjdorlo I had a couple full scholarships, a large scholarship at RIT and a partial scholarship at University of Rochester. Cornell has been my favorite school all along, even though I did apply to a couple other Ivies. As a premed student I was a little concerned about attending a large, challenging school. When visiting, I met lots of helpful premed advisors and other happy premed Cornell students, as well as doctors who had gone to my school and major.

I will have to take out a couple loans to attend Cornell; not ideal but certainly not crippling. At the end of the day, however, I realized I’d be happier at Cornell and finally decided to take the loans.

Great options, @SuperGymnast_04! If you’re happy there, you’ll no doubt do very well!

Congratulations to your D, @dlm031691! Berea is a wonderful school! Work colleges are truly unique places among all of higher education.

Heading to Occidental College with 2/3rds of tuition covered by grants and scholarships

homeschooled k-9 and 10, graduated two years early to attend community college I’m trying to decide between Wellesley, Berkeley, UCLA, and Wesleyan right now… Having a tough time.

Hey @lifeissoobtuse, congratulations! I assume you applied as a transfer student and were accepted to all these schools. All great choices. Let us know what you decide!

@losangeleno, congratulations! Nice job in the scholarship, too!

@SuperGymnast_04 Can you share if you did community college courses? Online education? Or various hsing and online etc??? (just saw premed post) My daughter is hoping to do the same but we are not sure how to tackle helping her best. Congratulations!
